There's a ton of damage under the TJ yet not much evidence on the Audi hood. Most of the Audi's hood was buckled not scraped. We could only guess that the Audi went under the rear of the TJ and launched it. It would have been a great video but the Audi drived "said" his camera was not turned on. Convenient! He still received a citation.

Man, I used to live in a town that was understaffed by over 50 officers. I drove to Oakland, CA to buy groceries because it was safer than where I lived.

Now, what I do want (and would gladly pay for) is requiring cops to have more than 90 days of training before handing them an AR-15, 12 ga, 9mm pistol, and tell the barely-finished-high school guy to go handle high-intensity situations. My friend had to get a JD and pass the Bar Exam to practice law, but someone with an 8th grade reading level who can do pushups is qualified to enforce the law? Get out of here.

And don't even get me started on the intersection between law enforcement and mental health. There's nothing I love more than the barely-literate gorilla with a gun second-guessing my clinical judgement.
Look at Cincinnati. They think 11 officers on duty is plenty at 3am.

I can laugh because no one got hurt, well not too bad. Feelings are hurting more now. It was his first Vehicle and first of his expanding collection of Jeeps.

Yeah, I get it - it's truly not funny, really.
I got rear-ended while driving my first car - no one was hurt, but........

Headed into town earlier this week, only a couple miles on the interstate and cruise set at 72mph, when I suddenly caught a glimpse in the outside mirror of a silver car closing fast and veering towards me. Absolutely no time to react or even say anything and the truck got nailed in the left rear corner. The car spun around and its rear end hit the left side of the cab and bed shortly thereafter, then we both headed into the grass off the right side of the road and came to rest.

Thankfully injuries were only minor, but holy hell, can't anybody drive worth a damn anymore? Is it asking too much for folks to pay attention to where they're going as they hurtle down the road? Maybe even slow the hell down and not act like they're trying out for a role in some idiotic road race flick.

The truck held up pretty well considering the lady hit me hard enough to set off all her airbags and shove her right front passenger wheel back almost into her door. Best part is (surprise surprise) she had no insurance.

So now I take some Aleve and wait for word from the body shop whether the truck's going to get fixed or totaled. At last word there is some frame damage and cost estimate is already near 50% value.

Damn, I didn't think people drove that crazy up north. In kalifornia that's the norm. Glad you're OK. Maybe you'll get a brand new Gladiator out of this.

They don't call it "practicing medicine" for nothing.

Gladiator doesn’t score top marks for crash testing but that said quite a few members have been much more fortunate than those who hit them.

Given the hit you took I’m impressed that the tailgate appears to still operate normally. There appears to be an advantage (depending where you sit) to having the frame at sedan headlight level.
My wife hit a black tail deer at 20mph (steel bumper group) and there was no sign of it at all apart from a bit of fur on the bump outs.

While not exactly kind to your “opponent”, steel frame, bed, bumpers & rock rails put a fair amount of armor around you. Or at least sacrificial surfaces other than plastic cladding.

As others have said do get checked out thoroughly. I took a lot of hits in the military that I shrugged off at 25 but feel now at 40. I once separated my AC ligament in a motorcycle crash then picked the bike up drove home and went to training the next day. But boy I wake up feeling that injury worse than at the time.

Make sure you get checked out. The adrenaline from the accident can mask issues.
Yes!!! Please do. I am now suffering from a herniated disc caused by a freeway rear end 25 years ago that I signed off on way back when. Sometimes these types of spinal cord injuries take years or even decades to emerge. Now, driving my jeep in heavy traffic is painful, and I can't turn my neck easily.... Glad you made it out OK. For your sake, I hope they total your truck.

Interesting how short deer in other places are compared to Iowa white tail. Hit one of them, it would be in your grill, maybe over the hood into the windshield.

Black tails out here do run small, the Elk make up for it.
