Overland Axle Info and Upgrades

Hey all,

I can build a motor, but for the life of me I just can't wrap my head around diffs lol... Any info would be appreciated!

The Overlands also have the D44 M210 Front and M220 rear axles right? Does anyone know the spline count? I thought I heard its a 32, but i am not certain. I know the carrier is a 3.73 & down. I want to upgrade to 4.88's eventually, and I might as well replace the open diff while I am in there, but no one seems to make anything other than ARB air lockers, and I'd rather not try to do all that. At that rate I'd rather just get the e-lockers (I know.....should've bought a Rubi..... lol)

Anyone have experience with the Crown Auto LSD? I can't seem to the LSD Mopar adds for like 5-600 from factory. I also can't tell if that is a 3.73 & down or a 3.92 & up which would allow the 4.88's.

Talking about the 4.88's, if I got 'OE' gears, would that allow me to add the 4.88's to a 3.73 & down carrier? 4WP quoted me to do it like there was no issue with the diff, but I take everything they say with a grain of salt.

You have 32 spline like all Gladiators & you’re carrier on 373 will be fine mine is getting 5.13’s right now. Only Lockers available right now are ARB & factory E-locker.

You have 32 spline like all Gladiators & you’re carrier on 373 will be fine mine is getting 5.13’s right now. Only Lockers available right now are ARB & factory E-locker.

I have been getting conflicting info from people about the axles on the JTs. I have a Max Tow Sport S with the wider axles. Can you confirm that this is a 32 spline also. I thought someone in the forum said the Rubicons had something different (other than the locker). I am contemplating installing the ARB RD245 lockers and 5.13 gears as well.

I can confirm that all have 32 spline, you have the capability to upgrade to a 35 spline axle which is almost like having a Dana 60 strength. Arb already sells the locker for that but I’m not sure they have the axles available yet. But 32 spline is pretty stout. I know for sure my Overland has 32 spline since i had a gear change.

I thought the carrier on the 3.73 diff wouldn't take the lower gears - somewhere there was a chart for that. I had thought about going 4.10s or the next down and the chart said I couldn't go any lower than I am with this carrier.

Yes i had issues with 4wp, first they ordered rubicon stuff for my sport, so took it apart and had to put it back together same day, then another couple months wait, then finally get the right stuff from yukon for the sport and then they had a last minute panic to find the right axle seals or something, assuming they'd be same as jk's and something they'd have on shelf...that cost me another day. They had it for 3 days. Several months of headache and terror trying to get my 4.88's in. Just sayin.

Not this totally new Adventek Axle i even used my LS unit.
