I couldn't be happier with my Overland. The leather trimmed interior and seats are more important to me than a disconnecting swaybar. I optioned the Traclock LSD which has so far proven to be enough for my needs over a set of lockers I would use once or twice a year.

Combine the LSD with a nice set of A/T tires, some Rubicon shocks, and a small spacer lift this thing will perform well against any other off the lot vehicle out there off road and still tow and haul 'enough'. For me at least!

VERY LITTLE.
Here's the truth of the matter related to tire sizes:
Overland stock tires = 32.2"
Rubicon Falken A/T tires = 32.8"
That's a whopping .6" difference. Big deal.
A bit over half an inch - not 1" as people keep 'suggesting'.
I believe there's about 2" difference in width, that would have some minor impact.
There's weight difference, I don't have the exact figures handy but likely only 60-80 pounds difference total, all 4 considered.
Our trip to Fort Wayne last February (gee almost a year ago already) we really didn't see much difference, but it would be hard to tell from that due to the fact it was COLD.
Seems to me we were still doing over 20 mpg at 60 mph, about 19 at 70 mph. It's more difference between summer and winter with these trucks than anything else.
Thanks!

NICE! And very well said.
What spacers did you use?
Those tires look big on the 18" overland wheels. (meaning they look just as good on the 18s as the Rubicon Falken A/T tires do on the Rubicon 17" wheels)
Good choice.

As many of us Overland owners have written, some of us got the Overland because of the nicer interior. I couldn't see spending significantly more on the Rubicon, considering the different interior and my not needing ALL of its capabilities. I'm not knocking the Rubicon one bit - it just wasn't for me. I liked the Overland's amenities - leather interior, upgraded sound system, larger screen and nav, etc. I know some of these are available on other models (or can be added post-purchase), I just liked the model they had on the floor at the time.

All that being said, I think you'll find the Overland more than capable - I have taken it out into different desert-based settings and have had no issues at all with hills, rocks, streams, mud, etc. Granted, none of these have been 'extreme' outings, but that's also not what I'm looking for.

I've done a few mods - 2" Rubicon Express lift/leveling kit, 35" Nittos, interior grab handles, Mopar splash guards, and a few others - and am pleased with my JT's looks, performance, and abilities. As others have said - you're getting a Jeep 4x4 nonetheless.

How is the ride with the rubicon lift and 35’s? Ok on the highway? I’m pretty much planning to only use this truck for everything you have mentioned, plus my 20 minute highway commute into work once things open back up

Are you comfortable at high speeds on the freeway? Ever experience the death wobble I keep reading about?

Driving is fine/great, highway or otherwise - still hit low-20s on MPG on freeway trips; I also have ~25 minute commute each way, 4-5 days a week, and am enjoying the ride. Shorter neighborhood/errand trips still show 17-18 MPG, so that's still way better than the various Rams I previously owned. This thing will easily handle anything I throw at it, as I am not considering extreme 4x4-ing or rock crawling - mostly desert, hills, smaller rocks on unpaved trails, etc. I've also loaded the bed with loads of things in the year I've had it, and no issues at all thus far.

P.S. Nothing even close to a 'death wobble' others have experienced, including hitting low-80s on the highway on recent trips.

I can believe that for sure.

Granted, I don't technically have "a lift" but I do have Rubicon front springs and Daystar .75" spacers all around. I sit roughly 1" higher than stock Overland.
I've had mine up to 90 so far - not sure, may have gone a bit over.
Then later I was zipping along as I was racing our derecho hoping to get home and in the garage before it hit us. First time my wife ever yelled "faster, go faster" while with me! LOL
I literally passed everything in site on I35, then I80.
That truck actually did better at speed than my Ford ever did and was perhaps even as good or better than my Silverado was at high speed.
The steering wheel never moved unless I moved it, there was ZERO vibration at all. It was as smooth at those speeds as it is at 50.
Death wobble is the result of things gone wrong, not a truck with correct parts installed correctly and correct geometry. Often it's bad tires or wheels, something is loose, or the toe is way off - or they have the scrub radius screwed up beyond all hope with spacers, huge wheels and didn't do any homework at all.

Good to hear. Did you consider any other lifts or know of anyone with other lifts on the overland that experience the same great ride you do with the rubicon lift?

As with all things in life, I have seen members' feedback relative to pros and cons on various brands. I know that doesn't help too much, but I've been reading this forum for about a year now and have seen pro/con reviews of many brands.

I was thinking about ordering a Mojave, but you all may have convinced me to stick to an Overland

I'm sure you'll be happy either way. Now that I'm much more learned on Gladiator trim levels, I would definitely go the Mojave route were I more of a hardcore 4-wheeler. I am very pleased with my Overland.

I am happy with my overland. It is very well equipped and has worked well for my needs. The original tire setup is anemic and most will upgrade it along with some leveling/lift kit.
Jeep Gladiator Overland - I’m sure it’s been asked before (apologies in advance) jeep0

Ditto! Mojave was not out when I ordered my Overland. I like the suspension and rear locker of the Mohave, but not so much the interior choices. Happy with My JTO.
