I agree, and I’m learning there are some differences between Diesel Rubicons and 3.6 Rubicons. 3.73 vs 4.10 and Diesel doesn’t look like it gets 4:1 t-case either. Which I think gets these closer in money.
I admittedly haven’t driven one without the 4:1 low range, but I can say it’s amazing. On most off road inclines I just take my foot off the gas and let it crawl. As soon as you remove your foot from the gas and brake, it automatically starts a controlled crawl. That’s not even using the 4L speed control. That’s a really cool feature. I don’t use it all the time; but it definitely has its place.

It’s huge in CO for more power at high altitude for more power and more control on steep declines. I wouldn’t have attempted Redcone without it. That descent it no joke. However, I wouldn’t use it here.

It was kinda the best of both worlds with my 6mt though. I’d just skip a lot of gears starting out and only ever started in less than 4th gear in 4lo unless dealing with some serious stuff. I don’t believe the OP is considering a manual and it’s not available on the diesel.

You’re going to make me go to a dealership and look for the difference. Haha.

So this is a wider grill opening? I just went outside and took a pic

Yes, if you have the tow package option, then the grille slots are wider than standard JL wrangler and gladiator without.

You've received a lot of advice already so I would only add that, in my own personal experience, it's easy to overestimate the capabilities you'll need and/or the mods required for your Jeep to do what you need. The Gladiator is incredibly capable stock. Throw on a leveling kit and 35" tires or some equivalent and it's even better. Personally, I would think more about what creature comforts I'd value every day like leather/heated seats, LED lights, proximity locks, all of which you can typically get cheaper on the Overland vs. the Rubicon.

I found the Mojave to have more of a harsh ride because of the lift.
Maybe the one you drove? Mine is waaaay smoother than my Rubicon was.

You’d probably get some of the price difference back in resale value. I didn’t think about that.

My situation was different. I bought mine in 2020 and there was about double the difference in discount available on Overland vs Rubicon. Since I was buying a $54k msrp vehicle and was pushing the budget already, that made a difference. I was on the fence till I saw that. It was like a $10k spread.
If it was 10k I wouldn’t even consider it.

The one I own currently
Haha I missed that. I’m old. IDK then the Mojave was the smoothest I drove amongst it, Rubi, Willys. ??‍♂
Reckon it could be a tire balance issue or something?

FACTS!…Right here. Basically what I said in a nutshell. People generally underestimate the capabilities of even a stock Jeep.

Just getting caught up in this thread since my original posts on the first couple pages..Sounds like everyone has given the OP enough food for thought .

Also shout out to all the Overland owners who came in firing hot. Love it. In my opinion it seriously is one of the best trims for the value and I’m not even a cheap person with anything. it just makes total sense for a lot of people in most cases. And is a great trim that often doesn’t get the credit it deserves. Not knocking Rubis cause like I said if I had it like that I’m definitely not gonna turn one down. But I can’t justify an extra 8-9k for stuff that I’m not using to the extent of its purpose. For whatever reason only having only a 4k difference between the trims in the OPs case makes the decision a little harder if it were mine to make. But just saying.

Well, after long deliberation I decided to get the Rubicon. With it being only $3.9k more I could justify it to myself. My wife was on board so, that makes it easier for sure. Will I be that guy that doesn’t need it, more than likely but I am getting a new Rubicon for about 2k less than I can get a used one for in my area so in my mind if I hate it I’ll be okay if I have to sell. Submitted the order to Kent at Peterson and now I wait. Thanks everyone for the insight and the help.

Congrats. Post pictures when you get it. If anything, I think you’ll find those features are so good, you’ll do more than you might have otherwise. Again, nothing wrong with an overland, but for 3.9k, it’s almost an easy decision.
