New to overlanding. Hoping to get some recommendations on overlanding gear or tools that would be price conscious.
Thanks JT forum

Found an awesome deal on a James Barough RTT locally. Love the streamlined look and function of the hardshell. ARB awnings are awesome, as well. Solar kit (100w) from Harbor Freight works surprisingly well, and keeps the battery charged enough to keep the lights on all night.

Overlanding in North America is essentially car-camping. Use whatever works for you to get out into the wilderness you seek and build upon it over time. Personally, I'd focus on building the truck for the roads and trails you drive and throw a decent ground tent, stove, cooler and Rubbermaid totes to keep everything organized in the bed until you know what you need and want.

You don't need most of the stuff you see on this (and other) forums and YouTube; just get outside!

Get some water tight containers for the bed. Roam, Pelican, and others can break the bank but are sweet. Here's a couple Kobalt plastic took boxes at $54 each, and they're heavy duty.

Hi Mike! So, this is an older post for you. So, here we are a few years later. What's your experience now? Have you bounced this around the woods for several days? Have you modified this setup? Do you still like the Kobalts.... talk to us!
And thanks
JP

Wow, that was 3 years ago!! My truck has come a long way since then. Check out my DIY camper, 30,000 miles and dozens of camping trips later. There's a link below to my 80 page build forum.

The Kobalts worked great until I put furniture in the bed!
