I'm just venting... So I took my JTD in for a p026D code last week. I get a text today saying, it's a dirty air filer and that it will be 275 for Diagnostics as maintenance items are not covered. I'm a little irritated, I tell the Service Advisor that i changed the air filter probably 250 miles ago and to look at ODM trip. I haven't even been out of the city so not a lot of dust. What would you think if they texted you this?

One of the reasons i write dates and mileage on all my filters with a paint pen. Makes it harder to argue the facts.

I agree, have it written down in the jeep operators manual. I'm just at work can't take a picture of it. Everything I do to the jeep i write down the mileage at the time, what brand I was used, etc.

Yes, but techs don't look at your manual. When they pull your filter to blame it and see it's only 100 miles old, it will give them pause. It also keeps them from falsifying info, if they show you a pic of a filter with no written info on the filter in your hand writing then it gets fishy.

Jumps on to soapbox...

An update for you all.. My truck has been at the dealer since the 5th. They wouldn't send me pic of the filter, just kind of ignored my request, so to me it looks like they lied (not saying they did, just looks that way to me). The next day I was told this wasn't an oem air filter (docs diesel filter nothing special) filter that I would have to buy a 40 oem dollar filter. to further diagnose. I said fine, do it.

At the end of the day they called and said "we just replaced the filter and just tried to start your truck at it was dead". Funny how there was never a starting issue till the jeep was dropped off. A quirk with the JT is if you leave the shifter in drive and shut the engine off it will kill the battery, it looks off but it's not (I'm leaning towards this as to why its dead after sitting Thursday night to Monday). Also, if you leave the ignition on (not running) for an extended period of time troubleshooting it will kill the aux battery. They apparently pulled both batteries out and load tested them and said they both batteries were extremely bad. At that point I could feel the steam coming off the top of my head. I told them put the batteries back in (I already feel dissed as is), Jump start it if you have to and to just check out the original complaint.

Two more days pass by, no update, so I left a message, that was Friday and nothing. So this morning, I was told that they tried starting the jeep and there was a "water in the fuel" code that came up. I was thinking to myself, what the hell is wrong with dealership. So those that don't' know this on a diesel gladiator if the auxiliary battery is low and it won't start this code will come up on the dash. Surprised they didn't know this. I called and asked to talk to the service manager, and they transferred me to the service adviser. I talked to him for a little bit, he said he talked to his tech and he confirmed my 2 cents for the water in fuel and it being related to low battery (well duh) Right now, no amount of words can describe how shady and incompetent this dealer looks to me. I think I might be very close to the point I want them to push it outside the gate.

Jumps off soapbox..
