As someone who drives a work truck daily (FedEx), mirrors mirrors mirrors, the back up camera is ONLY to be used to see how close you are to completing your parking while you are straight
That curved bed is deceiving. I could nail my Tacoma every single time without fail but there's something about not having a good reference line that throws me off on these trucks. I just learned to know that my vision will put me off a few degrees driver so I give it a little turn about a foot before stopping.

I’m glad I’m not the only one with this issue. I thought maybe my backup camera was crooked

As our garage is TIGHT with all the stuff in it - lawn tractor, wife's Jeep, one of my cars, antique engines and so on, and I have rigged a lift for the JT roof, I marked red lines on the garage floor. I have them placed so I can put the rear wheels in the exact same place every time.
This way when I want to put the roof back on, it just goes straight down and is perfectly aligned.
I use the backup camera and lines to target those red paint lines on the garage floor. I can center the truck in those almost perfectly every time..............
I also back into most parking spots at stores, no real problem. IF it's not straight it's pretty darned close to it. I can't say it's ever "crooked", not really.
Not sure why I have better luck.
Could it be better? Maybe, but no complaints on that part. I generally use mirrors for perfect alignment with things anyway.

I have not found confirmation, but someone posted that the camera lines are slightly off and the recall update for the camera fixes it. I mostly use the camera for distance when backing up. I have always relied on my mirrors. When I tried to use just the camera, I couldn't park straight in the spot. Mine downloaded the camera update on July 3rd. It does seem a little better, but I can't tell for sure.

I use the backup camera to get me into the area & then I use the mirrors.. No Problems here. Actually find it quite easy compared to my F150

Mirrors are always your best bet anyway. They don't lie, they are as accurate as the person looking at them, and driving on dirty roads won't block them like the camera.
