I just purchased a new-to-me 2021 Gladiator Willys. I traded in my 2020 Wrangler JL Freedom. My question to the group:

My Gladiator has LED lights in the rear and Halogen in the Front. It does have DRLs enabled. My brother just bought a new 2022 Gladiator Willys and it has LEDs in the front and Halogens in the rear. Any ideas on why they would mix up the 2 types of lights? Since I have LEDs in the rear, can I replace my fronts with LEDs and not have to flash the system? I do not have a Tazer or JScan.

If it has LED tail lights, that's normally part of one of the Safety groups/packages.

Simple answer to the question, Yes, if you're going to add any other LED lighting you'll need to activate it with either a Tazr or similar tool.

I have swapped in LED bulbs into the headlights and fog lights without a flash or re-program required on my '22 with original halogen lights.

For complete aftermarket headlights and fog lights, like Minty said - would need a Tazer or JScan.

It depends on the lights you purchase. Some are designed to mimic the power draw of the halogens so the computer doesn't need updated.

I think if you replace the front with factory LEDs, you will need a specific harness and a programmer.
If you use one of the many aftermarket error free LED headlights, they'll be plug and play.

We have LED headlights on both our cars (Audi SQ5 & Panamera 4s) and the 22 Glad. The Glad’s LEDs are equal in terms of light pattern and dispersion. i tried LED bulbs in halogen shells on a previous car and the results were kind of so so. The thing is that both LED and halogen lights tend to be focused to properly put the light on the roadway. Halogen and LED produce light with different properties so swapping one into the other can be a crap shoot in terms of results, or at least that’s what I found. My suggestion try and find a set of LED headlights rather than experimenting with aftermarket bulbs in halogen shells.
