Are these two related? Could’ve probably googled this question but no fun in that. With a payload of 1,600lbs, does cabin weight of 200lbs decrease the overall payload to 1,400lbs? I plan to use the truck for mountain biking trips which means I’d have at least 3-4 guys with me, maybe total weight of 600-800lbs so I’m wondering if this decreases the payload capacity to about 1000-800lbs?

Yes, cabin weight figures into total weight.

How is it that GVWR is the same but payload in the Sport S is 460lbs greater than on the Overland? Isn’t GVWR total weight rating of the vehicle factoring all cabin and bed weight?

Maybe they don't want to overload those leather seats in the Overland.

Springs are also a factor. The Overland is designed to have a softer ride.
Where can I find info on the stock springs? I’m only seeing info on the shocks when I use the jeep comparison tool on their website and it looks like they have the same ones.

Thats obviously a misprint as the numbers don't add up.

Other than the threads in the suspension section, I'm not aware of any official Jeep information on the springs or shocks. The Rubicon and Mojave come with different shocks, but those don't affect payload numbers. The Max Tow has progressive springs to accommodate the weight, but still have a decent quality ride when empty.

Springs are different between the models for multiple reasons. Towing, comfort, offroad... sport and max tow have 2 different rear springs. Which are different from overland, which are also different from Rubicon and Mojave. Sport max tow tows more than Rubicon, which tows more than overland and sport. Overland, as stated, is more luxury and hence softer ride. Offroaders are obvious. All curb weights (total vehicle weight after fluids) are also different, thus directly affecting payload allowable weight, which is total weight of passengers and equipment (or other added "stuffs") over the 4 wheels after the curb weight. The 2 weights combined are typically going to reflect the gvwr (tho not in this case). Gvwr is typically the max weight the vehicle can safely be over the 4 wheels. That is at least how I have come to understand those weight ratings.

I’ll have to test drive a max tow and overland on the highway to try and compare the two before I buy

Great, that’s my understanding as well (now that I’ve watched some YouTube). I’m thinking the overland really wouldn’t be worth the purchase if I need a truck to haul stuff and also enjoy with the family or with my buddies on trips to the mountains. Only bummer is I really “need” the leather interior.

You can order the leather upholstery with the Sport S.
But I tend to agree with @CrazyCooter , I think it's a misprint. You should verify the payload capacity with your dealer before you order.

I don’t see the option online to order the sport s with leather. I know the dealership can add it on for me but I’ve heard a nightmare story about aftermarket upholstery installed by the dealership and wouldn’t want to go through the trouble for such an important part of the vehicle

I ordered ours full well knowing we would be exceeding the stickered gvwr.......no way to own and use a pickup with 900lb. payload!

I'm not sweating it as no single component's rating will be exceeded.
