Going to get my TSB steering box changed out tomorrow. Saw someone mention to have the dealership flash the PCM. What is the reasoning behind this? Just want to know what I'm talking about if I get looked at sideways

It's in the TSB for the steering gearbox change for them to re-flash the software. That is where I would point them if they get stupid on you.

Since the electric steering fluid pump is software driven for demand loading, I am sure there is some new profile pattern for the new steering gearbox.

They MAY have been referring to the PCM flash/update for engine troubles. My dealer won't do any such thing unless there's an actual problem because simply flashing it isn't covered without a problem or complaint.

Ok got it. This dealer has always been good to me so I don't think there will be pushback. They more than likely already know but on the off chance they don't I just wanted to make sure I could give a reason why

I recall they did an update when they installed by side steps a couple months ago. Will have to look at the invoice to make sure
