As someone who has spent his whole driving career in the Ocala National Forest I can offer what I've done. Most of the 4x4 trails that have any level of difficultly seem to be made for a motorcycle, not a Jeep. Scratches are going to happen, period.

Blue painters tape. Easy to apply, easy to remove without any residue. Thick enough to withstand a good oak tree branch sliding across it. You can add another layer of protection on top of it while in the field. Cheap. Remove once done and no one will be the wiser and make fun of you.
How about painters tape used for 3D printers, like this 'wide blue painters tape' on Amazon?

Rrrriight. 🙄 Ironically, that has become part of my plan - I do intend to remove the doors (and mount the tube doors) before that ride. However, there is still the matter of the sides of the bed, and the fenders - those aren't coming off. ;)
Once the doors are off, now dealing with direct destruction especially if it's dusty.

This is a big issue for me and I'm sure many why they stay away from off-road. I will not allow permeant damage to my paint and will anything I can to stop it. Im keeping the Gladiator permanently and will look back to the adventures as a old man and show it off and the car shows talking how amazing it was and how great Diesels are lol

Here is what I'm doing about it.

Trails off-road app. They show if there are pinstriping on the trails. I will carry an electric chain saw and cut the path. If it's to much or not possible, I won't continue and will go to another trail.

I'm doing PPF my self with the pre cuts using 3m Pro 200 films. 3m the inventor of PPF and a OEM supplier makes the best stuff. https://www.invisiblemask.com/imask...9ciM_t3sYg5SxEXOgPipUvq7BMJ3WynxoCSskQAvD_BwE

These guys have a great price with 20% code going on now. Get the Pro 200 for sure. Also some panels or years you email them and they have the file to do the pre cut. They just need to update the site is all. I already did the front fenders lights, front head lights, fog lights, front grill. Im going to do the hood next and just keep going back all the way. Here is a pic so far.

My fenders I wanted black for the contrast and scratches. I plan to do and liner coating on them. Not sure if I will pull mine off or have new ones done. Im going with the stock smother finish on them.

I'll be installing sliders from Rock Slide that I like the most with the E step. They poke out a little for the side protection. Evo also makes an adessives aluminum black no drill rash guard Im going to install along with full Artec aluminum belly skids and other sliders for the diff and contract arms.

Also going to do the Gtech ceramic coating to help as well. So far this is all I can think off. The panels with adessive look ugly but beside that, they are not made to come on and off regularly. The bumpers, feders, sliders, Im ok with scratching up. Just the paint and the black hardtop is my top priority.

So here is something I'm trying for the next narrow ride: I trimmed some magnetic whiteboard sheets to protect the bed and cab. Unlike the doors and front panels, these are steel. Using a blank roll of White Surface Magnet Sheet, 10'x2' ($40-45 on Amazon), I cut these for easy on easy off protection.

To protect the doors, I just take them off (assuming no deep water crossings or excessive mud), otherwise, I will coat them with a temporary liquid track coat and peel of when the wheeling is done. Fenders are either strips of track tape, or just 'let it go Elsa' and let the stripes be a badge of honor.

Unfortunately, our plans were changed at the last minute due to a family emergency, so we didn't make it to the scratchy trails. Still waiting to test. 😔

I’m guessing Ocala was your trip? I’m in Florida also and was asking for that exact same trail 😂
