My alignment shop is a good one I will have them give everything a look also.

Yea it’s def other drivers fault but I forgot to mention it was a hit and run. Driver fled as soon as he stopped spinning. We stopped ahead because it was at an intersection and when I looked over they were gone. That’s why I would have to use my own insurance. We didn’t have time to get the plates and were assessing damages didn’t want to take off after them. Oh well win some you lose some.

So far looking at it before I take off the pitman arm, it looks bent to the left. Which is weirdbecause the impact forced it right. Hard to tell tho. These are pics with the wheels pointing straight. I drew the arrow mark when I installed the sector shaft brace. So that tells me it’s not the splines just by looking at it. The nut is still lined up with the pitman arm. If it had slipped it wouldn’t be lined up. So it must’ve slipped internally? and possibly bent the arm?

@kevman65 draglink is fine; still in it’s position at the adjustment threads.

Not sure about Nevada but…

In Tennessee, uninsured motors coverage will take care of a hit and run claim with usually a very small deductible that’s a separate amount from your usual deductible. It also doesn’t affect your rates.

Hope you get it all sorted out.

@TinMan2020 I’ll have to ask my insurance person, I literally just removed it a couple months ago when I switched to state farm šŸ¤¦šŸ½ā€ā™‚ļøI was under the impression uninsured motorist coverage was only for medical and wouldn’t cover vehicle. So I removed it because I have good health insurance.

I’ve used uninsured motors a couple times from parking lot mishaps/surprises when returning to my car from shopping. My girlfriend used it when an uninsured driver hit and totaled her car, a truck, and severely damaged a semi on the interstate a couple years back. Been worth keeping for us.

My uninsured motors coverage extends to hit and runs with a police report filed.

arm was definitely bent. Drag link end is fine. Splines are fine. In case anyone cares, there is 1 fat spline, so the pitman arm can only go on one way. Can’t adjust it. Which is cool, no guess work or marking where center is. Putting it all back together now I’ll get back with an update once I drive it.

Yup new pitman arm fixed my issue. Impact bent it. Luckily it was the only thing that bent. My sector shaft brace from metalcloak saved my gearbox. Spent like $110 on pitman arm from rockauto and then I bought a new bumper from metalcloak for almost $1000. Did this instead of paying deductible lol on top of that, harbor freight had a sale on their badlands winch, got it for $369 after tax.
Hope your jeep gets fixed as simple as mine ! Cheers

Just waiting on the pitman arm supposed to get it today
Luckily in my case impact was on tire only
But it was hard to believe that pitman arm (being forced steel) can bend instead of hollow steering shaft šŸ˜†
Will update after installing
Thanks

Smacked a car that ran a red light last night. My girl was driving and didn’t have time to stop. Long story short I need a new bumper and my alignment is off. Nothing looks bent but I can only turn left a tiny bit and I can turn right a lot. I can see that the steering gearbox pitman arm is favoring the left side now. It maxes out to the left fairly quickly because it moved. Can turn to the right a lot, more than normal It seems. Still drives straight for the most part but I will still get an alignment asap.

Obviously the impact caused it, I’m just wondering if the spines strip on the sector shaft, or is it internal that would cause the pitman arm to move left from 12 o clock with the wheels straight. Haven’t had time to inspect it further, just looking for info from others that have had this happen. Thanks in advance.
