I don't see that in the service manual but it does say to use a new nut. I don't know if many people actually do use a new nut. Loctite is often the go-to solution.
My impact started really working hard trying to get the nut all the way off so I stopped and put it back up and torque it to 185 no lock tight no new nut. Going to take the tools with me on vacation. Hopefully I'm okay

Paint pen might help with ease/peace of mind.

Great idea. It makes it a lot quicker to check than getting the torque wrench back out. I use whatever bright paint I have around and apply it with a toothpick. Maybe some day I'll get a pen

May be too late for input, but I'd take your big socket, put it over the stud (with the nut off), and give it a good whack with a mallet. That stud should be flared such that the arm is pressed onto it and the nut is just insurance. (at least that's how it is on GM steering set-ups).

Valley of Fire State Park in Nevada just a family camping trip.... rad place tho.
On the way up, check out Bitter springs road if you want to get flexy in a few spots. Enjoy.

FWIW, I have a new in the bag OEM pitman arm nut and it comes with preinstalled dried thread locker material on it. Also has a slight oblong pinch thread. I think that is why service data says the nut is a one and done affair and to get a new one.

This will be about a 700 mile round trip. I'll order one and install it when I get back. Thanks.
I see no reason it should be an issue in that short of time.

Don’t cancel. Take the nut off, add some blue lock tight and crank it down gudentite with a crescent wrench. That’s what I would do, but I take no responsibility in what you do ??
I did exactly this when mine was loose. I didn't remove the nut though, just squeezed in some blue threadlock and muscled that sucker down with a mechanic style Crescent wrench.

For god sake, Jeep needs to change the nut design before someone gets killed. Prevail lock nut is the easiest and cheapest solution.
