Possible issues in 4 low

This last weekend I managed to get a couple of days wheeling in and noticed something while in 4 low, just not sure if these are normal as it is my first Jeep. This was my first proper off-road trip.

1) At low RPM (about 1000) it will surge to 1500 and the drop back to 1000 repeatedly if I am rolling through something at idle. this is low auto or manual or with off road plus on.
2) In auto it seems to be all over the place for when it will shift and does not like to shift back down when the Jeep slows unless I bring it to a complete stop. It seems to like to stay in 4th once it gets there.

So just wondering if this is normal?

Mine does 1.
It’s REALLY ANNOYING!
Especially when I’m trying to control downhill speed.
The dealer says it’s normal.

mine will shift up quickly like yours and not come back unless stopped either. I always use manual mode in 4low.
