Pre-June 2021 TPMS issues.

I took ownership of my 2021 JTRD, on March 31 of 2021. A few months later, I changed the wheels, to fuel covert and reused my factory 33s. The TPMS system worked flawlessly for at least two years. Then, it began to act up sporadically. After a couple of months of that, it stopped working altogether. Dashboard said “tpms not available,” and - shown at each wheel, on the dash. Every few months, it would work for a few minutes. The last time it worked, was about two months ago and it was for about 10 miles, on the highway. Last week, I put on a new set of icon dynamics recon pro wheels. I coupled them with wild peak AT4’s. I got them from Trail Built Off Road. When I ordered them, they asked for the Vin, so they could verify when it was built, to properly match the TPMS sensors. After installation and over the last week, they still have been detected.
My friend, bought my old tires and wheels, and they were balanced and installed today, at one of the local shops. As soon as his gladiator came off of the lift, and it was started, the TPMS system, recognized the sensors. It was instantaneous. So at this point, I have to assume, it was and still is, an issue with a TPMs antenna or something, on my rig, and not the sensors in the old wheels.
Google said the fuse for the TPMS system, was F94. The fuse was pushed in completely, and when I pulled it, to look at it, I didn’t see a break.
Can any of you well seasoned Jeep owners, venture I guess, as to what it might be,(TPMS antenna)? And if so, let me know what to look for and where. This forum has helped a lot, in the last 1-1/2 years. It’s nice to know the knowledge base is vast, and with many years of experience. Much thanks to all.

Well there is a seperate TPMS module that really is rather inexpensive.

Yeah, I think they later combined the TPMS with another part (remote start and keyless entry, maybe), but the system was more complex back then. I think they combined systems because of the chip shortage.

You are on the right track. It was rolled into the Radio Frequency Hub (RFH)

Did you have success replacing the receiver? I fell into the same trap, and like you said much easier that going back and replacing all the sensors.

How is that a "post June 21" module? They rolled the TPMS receiver into the RFH and is not a separate module.

Not sure, but thanks for the info! So there was no intermediate stage before they rolled it in? Weird the site says it "fits" lol

For all intents, 6-7-21 was the cut in date at the factory. There is others thread in the past talking about it possibly not being a 100% clean cut in on that date with maybe a handful being built with either system before and after but nothing has shown definitive on that.

Online websites do not always get it right on production change cut ins and is why it is important to submit VIN when ordering things like this as the build sheets will have the correct configuration listed.

Edit: An example of a unclean cut in was the drain plug removal from the front and rear DANA axles that started in 2021 also. There is provable reports of people well into 2022 model year getting the older axles with drain plugs still installed. Sales codes were not changed for this delete either, nor is it apparent when ordering replacement axles which one would get until all the old stock with drain plugs was used up.

Did you have success replacing the receiver? I fell into the same trap, and like you said much easier that going back and replacing all the sensors.

I have searched high and low, back and front, trying to find the tire pressure module. I’ve had no luck finding it anywhere, mounted to the frame. I saw one search saying it’s about the size of a deck of cards. Some say mounted on top of the frame, some say to the side, some say near the firewall some say in the rear. Either way you look at it, I can’t find it. So I’m tending to believe maybe it’s in the RF hub. I certainly wish someone else had a similar situation as I do, trying to find it and had luck finding it.
It didn’t work for me with the old wheels and tires and it's not working with my new wheels and tires. When the guy that bought my old wheels and tires put them on his truck, as soon as the wheels touched the ground from the lift, his TPMS system recognized all of the monitors.
So to answer your question, no, I haven’t had any luck. Any luck I have had, was temporary.

This is the only thing I saw that’s even remotely close to the size of a deck of cards. Anyone recognize it as something else?

Well that is a bummer. Sounds like it is integrated with the RFH, as they say.
