You sound like those old people that their kids have to buy them a Jitterbug big button cell phone to bring them into the modern age.

Good advice has already been given. It is not that big of a deal once you figure and try it out. Be glad you do not have manual hubs to deal with also.
I’d rather my old Nokia brick over the jitterbug, although that is coming soon

You really need to relax a bit. It’s not that complicated. . .

lol it was a joke, I edited it, although I do still find the instructions super unclear. They don’t make sense it says to release the accelerator after the shift has been completed then immediately days do not accelerate while shifting. Maybe I’m just too literal of a person.
anyway, when ripping through some Army deuce and a half monster puddles without issue. Back and forth to work the shifter in.

still haven’t tried 4LO.

expect a massive post when that day comes ?

I Checked the Manual and the wording they used is as you posed and is a bit odd. Here is a bit more plain English. Hold steady on the gas pedal and try to maintain speed, don't increase in speed don't lift and decrease in speed. Once you shift lift off the pedal for a short bit to allow the vehicle to finish what ever it's doing.

Basically they are trying to say remove the load from the gears. When you lift off the gas pedal the ECU cuts fuel which leads to the tires turning the engine, engine braking. This loads the transfer case. Alternatively accelerating loads the transfer case, duh right?

for 4LO find some gravel and shift into and out of 4L at a 1-2 mph roll with the transmission in neutral. My advice is do this multiple times before it's actually needed. The one time i NEEDED 4L I wasn't able to shift at a roll but looseening the system up prior made it possible to make the shift. The first time will be difficult.

im glad I’m not the only one that found the wording funny judging by previous replies. I have been shifting in and out of 4h and it seems to b smoother. I definitely have to get into 4lo and make it a habit. I’ll check the manual again, hopefully it is a little clearer lol
