Question about nuts...(lug nuts that is)

I am waiting for my wheels to arrive next week and i wanted to get some opinions on personal experiences with open ended and closed ended lug nuts and if there was a certain brand / type I should look into. The wheels I'm getting are KMC grenade crawl bead lock. TIA

I would go with a quality 1 piece closed end nut. McGard is a good one. I am not a fan of the spline type as the socket is a possible weak spot.

Thanks for your feedback thats what i was thinking too, just having a hard time figuring out what length I need to go with

West Coast accessories has lug nut kits available in black or chrome that will work. Your local Discount Tire store typically has them in stock, or they can order them in for you in a day or 2.

Take a close look at the bearing surface size between the factory, OEM nuts, and the aftermarket. I have seen a substantial size differential where the aftermarket has a much smaller bearing surface than the factory. I have been very unimpressed with several sets that I have ordered and ultimately returned due to the very small bearing surface.

I would recommend contacting the wheel manufacturer to find out what lug nuts they recommend.

When you go with the black ones, does the black paint flake off ? I tried some black spline nuts on my toyota and after one winter swap out they are rusted and the paint is almost all gone.
