Question about security alarm on Gladiator again.

I asked if the security alarm came as standard equipment on all Overlands in my previous post. Hootbro answered that all but the base Sport came with an alarm.I have tried many different ways to set the alarm via the owners manual with no success. So is the security alarm a standard feature on all Gladiators or is it an option included in one of the option packages?

My Sport had an alarm, I believe. Do you get a flashing light on your dash when you lock the vehicle?

No, just the hood alarm is, or using jscan or AlfaOBD.
Otherwise, the alarm is supposed set when you lock the vehicle.

There's security system ("alarm"), then there's hood alarm.

Roll down your window. Arm the truck, wait a few second then reach in and manually unlock the door then open it. Alarm should comes on.

Edit: Make sure your fob is not near the truck.

That's lawyer wording so they don't need a manual for each trim level. It prevents claims that a vehicle is missing something the manual says should be there.

A base Sport model with manual door locks might not be equipped with an alarm. In over four years, I have not seen any posts here about a missing alarm.

Manual locks won't have that system - lock cylinders won't trigger it and anything with power locks have a power switch inside, not a manual lever.

So logic dictates - only something with power locks could have this system.

Sorry to bring up an older thread…..

24’ Mojave x with all the bells and whistles. So, I’d assume I have an alarm. Although, it‘s not really spelled out.

I have a Tazer and tested the hood alarm today. Yup…it works. I wanted to test to see how long it would go before ‘resetting’ itself…..or re-arming. The thing was so loud - I just couldn’t do it!! In order to disarm it…. I hit the unlock button. That only shut off the horn. The LIGHT SHOW continued……. I proceeded to close the hood/latches (light show still going), hit the LOCK button and then the UNLOCK button again. Phew…back to normal.

I still don’t know how long it’d take to reset or re-arm itself…..
And if the hood is opened and unlatched….. would the alarm system ‘understand’ the hood is still unlatched (criminal runs away)?

Just curious to know exactly how this works….. Right now, my hood alarm is turned on. But if the darn thing would keep blasting the horn until the battery dies, I might just turn the hood alarm off!

Unhook the wire off one of the horns, cover the other one with something, and see how long it goes. Or, disconnect both horns and see how long the lights flash.

My 2023 Sport, totally base except for max-tow package, has no alarm and no buttons on the fob.

You should be able to activate the hood alarm sensor using Jscan, AlfaOBD, a Tazer, and possibly the dealer.
