I've searched this forum and others for a definitive answer and have only come close to an answer once. I'm looking at some 33/12.5 R18 for my 2020 Gladiator Overland. I want to keep the stock rims...should I expect any problems? No offroading, mainly snow and/or sand. Any input is appreciated..

Why would you expect problems?
For one thing, we don't know WHAT tires you are looking at - the brand, the rating (snow rating, etc.) and other "stuff" about them.
They may be highway rated, mud rated, A/T rated, 3 peak snow rated, or not, all you mentioned was size and that says nothing other than you are going larger.

I was always told that the 12.5 was too wide for stock rims and will make you prone to blowing a beed with normal driving

Pic shows that 33’s may work for you, i just dont know the stock rin width

I went with 285/70/17 since they were close to 33 and fit easily on stock rubi rims

I haven't decided on a brand yet...I was more concerned about the 12.5 width being an issue. Thanks for your input...!

False. Thousands of people run 12.50’s on stock rims without issues.

Happy Friday!

Just wanted to chime in and add a few bits of info regarding tire to wheel fitment. The 33x12.50R18 recommended wheel width is 8.5"-11" wide.

The reason has to do with sidewall flex and heat. If the wheel is to narrow the tire bead is pinched and the sidewall can not flex as it was designed, vice-versa if you put too narrow of a tire on a wide wheel the sidewall wont be able to move properly and could fail due to excessive heat.

Although it can physically be done, we would not recommend the 33x12.50R18 on your stock wheel due to the potential for a sidewall failure.

Hope you have a great weekend!

I do respect your opinion and you are probably a subject matter expert. However, thousands upon thousands of Jeep owners have driven with 12.5s on stock rims with zero issues. You have to look at the statistics when making these decisions.

I decided to go with the 33/12.5 R18....I'm very happy with the look, feel and driveability....I've got some 1.5" spacers to put on, but I really don't know if I'll use them...these feel so nice on the road.... :)

I'm new to forums, so I'm not sure if you'll see this or if this is the appropriate place to ask but I'm interested in doing the same thing as you. If you don't mind me asking which brand of tires are these? Also, any issues since? They look great!
