Also, you may need to use a magic eraser on the plastics... I had mine good and dirty from dirt/mud in the Ocala area, and it seems to have stained the plastics like the bed caps, Door Handles, windshield tie downs on hood, and the stock plastic bumpers.

There are a few inspections that are a good idea after such a ford. You should check the engine oil, both differentials, the transmission and the transfer case lubricants for water contamination. There probably isn't any, but this is straight from any off-roading how-to-off-road book. If the area is known for quicksand, BTW, don't' be surprised if you have problems with unit bearings and U-joints in the near future. Been there, done that. It's fun to play in, but it sure tears up hardware.

For anyone interested in a moderately deep water ford video, here's one along the Mojave River last year in my JK Wrangler (skip to 10:30 if not forwarded automatically) ...

For those interested in what it's like running a quicksand-filled river, here are a couple older videos ...

What I like to do and work real well and is also safe for the environment...if ones cares. I use a pressure washer with dawn dish soap. It's cheap, it's effective and it's safe. Oh you probably have it under your sink.

Absolutely this.

The breather hoses are not as high as they should be. One of the first major things I do after a lift is to lengthen all breather hoses so everything can breath appropriately regardless of how deep I am going.

Check your airbox as well and clean anything out. I know plenty of dealers out there that will not do warranty work if they see any sort of mud or sand in your airbox.

In Jersey we have "sugar sand" which is extra fine, and wrecks havoc on axle seals as well as rear main seals. So I would say just do a nice wash underneath so any extra gunk isn't sitting getting into seals more than they already have.

I forgot about those. Yes, I did have to replace the front axle seals after that trip through the Canadian River. And also had to have one chromoly axle shaft machined down at the seal contact because of damage from the sand.

I found a couple of the breather tubes ( found back differential and transmition I think), will extend them when I get my lift. do you know where the others are located?

There should be 3 to worry about. Both diffs and transmission. Transmission tends to be higher than the diffs, usually in the engine bay. For the front just follow the lines and you'll find it easily.

I think it's SUPER important to note that if you drove through brackish or full salt water, you MUST get a salt remover too. If the trail was flooded because of high tide from Eta, salt remover (like Salt Away) ASAP.

Deep? Nah. This...this is deep...

(Jeep was totaled since it was stuck there and filled up.)

I don't agree. I've stuck my Jeep in extremely salty mud and ran it through a salt lake that's saltier than the ocean, with only a normal wash after, many times. No issues.

Someone out on trails driving through Peace River this past weekend. He wanted me to follow him but I'm not as brave with a brand new truck. I have a video but I don't know how to post it.

You really made a splash with your first thread!

(I’m a dad. I’m required to make lame jokes.)
As a dad, I approve of this joke.

There's an option to attach files or you can upload to youtube and share from there
