Does anyone know how to keep the radio from playing every time the car is started? I typically turn the car off with the radio muted and the *&^%$#@ thing blares the next time I start the car. I'd like to not hear music or static when I turn the car on AND see the screen on without having to turn it on manually..... set how I left it. Really surprised with all the advanced computers onboard, that Jeep hasn't figured this one out or at least provided a concise explanation in the manual(s).

If connected to your phone via bluetooth, turn off "autoplay" on the uconnect settings. You can also just the volume down all the way before powering down the engine, or just turn it off all together?

Thanks for the quick response. My phone is connected via bluetooth, but it is the FM radio that keeps playing. Turning off "Autoplay" doesn't work. Turning it off all together still leads to the same issue when I turn the screen on.... the radio plays. One would think the radio is an app in the onboard screen that can be disabled. Seriously, do people really still listen to their car radios?

Well, that’s a weird one. I usually only listen to my phone via hard line, although Bluetooth is also enabled. Whenever I had either car play or Bluetooth as the last thing playing, it doesn’t revert back to the radio.

Thanks Jefe1018..... Yours is exactly how my phone is set up, but mine reverts back to the radio. Perhaps I need to take it to the dealer.

As a last effort, you can try and restore your Uconnect settings to factory. That might actually fix your issue. I was browsing through the manual and didn't find anything specific to this issue, but that might be worth a short.

Depending on how long you've had your JT there may be a firmware upgrade available.

I have the same problem. only way I have found to "turn off" the radio is to turn the volume down to zero. Maybe Tazer could create a new function for us old fogeys that still listen to the radio.

Mine was doing this too. You can set the media settings to play satellite, FM, Bluetooth, etc.

Right now you have it set to FM apparently so it will revert back to whenever you shut down the truck. Take it off FM and set it to something that won’t blow your eardrums out every time you start it.

Thanks for the suggestion.... I tried setting to Satellite and Bluetooth and still have the same issue.

That is weird. I set mine to blue tooth and haven’t had any more issues.

What year is yours and can you hold down the far left bottom icon and the far right bottom icon and tell us your radio and application version numbers?

I use Apple CarPlay near exclusively but even if I don't plug my phone in - the radio does not revert to FM or Satellite or anything. Don't even have my phone connected via bluetooth. It's just quiet till I plug my phone in and AutoPlay kicks in, or I select a new source option.

Oh adding, what do you normally play music with? Anything at all?

What head unit do you have (7, 8.4, etc)?

I never listen to the radio, I only stream via Bluetooth from my phone and I have found on any of the lower end radios (anything below the 8.4), every single time I start the vehicle it always defaults to the radio and takes far too long to connect the Bluetooth.

My 2014 ram with 8.4 and other vehicles I've rented that have the 8.4 connect quickly to Bluetooth and do not default to the radio.

Personally, I despise uconnect, especially on the lower spec radios. I purposely did not upgrade the system in my Mojave and I have already swapped the stock unit out for an IA JL3001.

Thanks for the help. My Gladiator is a 2020. Can you name what the "far left bottom icon" and "far right bottom icon" are or show pictures. There are a gazillion screens and I've tried a few and still can't see the radio and application version numbers.

I also use Apple CarPlay near exclusively, listening to podcasts & Spotify.

Maybe an "old school" term, but head unit is referring to the radio
