Hello everyone ! Thought about applying Rain X to the backup camera lens. Any thought or suggestions?

I apply ceramic on all of ours, including cameras, plastic, mirrors, wheels etc. It lasts a few years (unlike RainX) and the protection is superior. Many great options out there. I’ve loved CQuartz UK 3.0.

I second Ceramic. it's safe to use on pretty much the entire exterior. I use it on windshield, headlights, everything. And I take special care on the camera to keep that water beading off. It definitely helps with the clarity. Rain X is OK too, but it's just old tech. Rain X is just a wax that's been around for decades and there is nothing special about it anymore. It won't last more than 1 or 2 rains. Ceramic is the latest in tech, and can last many months.

Griots Ceramic Spray is great for the price and easy to use all over. There are some youtube videos out there where they test 8 to 20 brands against each other.

Also, after the ceramic has dried for a few hours. There is nothing wrong with putting a little dab of wax on it and polishing it. It's quite a normal process to do multiple layers of different products. i.e. ceramic, then sealer, then wax. They all have different purposes.

Ceramic fills microscopic holes, sealers typically dry a bit harder than a wax and lock in all your hard work of detailing, and then finally wax is a softer layer, like wrapping it in a pillow to create a cushion.
