Sounds like a Plan! If ya can't maybe Fiat would lease their spokeswoman to help an Old Jeep Owner lug this Fob around!

There is no room anywhere for either keyfob.

@Lucky1

Just remember, you cannot lock a stock fob or this aftermarket fob in the JL/JT unless it is placed in a Faraday Bag.
THIS IS NOT FOOL PROOF!!!!
Dependent on where the fob (without a Faraday Bag) is placed inside the JL/JT, you may be still able to lock the vehicle ...
Indeed!
This past weekend I gave my spare FOB to my son to hang on to while we both traveled in the Jeep. At the end of the trip 3 days later, he couldn't find that FOB. I unlocked the Jeep and looked around inside and turned out it had fallen out of his pocket and was under the passenger seat. I was surprised and tested it again and I could lock the Jeep either with the other FOB, the proximity button or the inside door lock button while that FOB lay under the front passenger seat.

I would appreciate if others would test this out in their trucks and report back!

If the second fob is in range while the first fob is inside the truck, it WILL lock.
I've done it.
A single fob inside the truck without the second fob in range, and the truck won't lock: the lights flash, the horn toots, & the doors unlock.
I just tried tossing one fob under the right front seat, with the second fob out of range, and it didn't lock.

After reading your post, I just verified this -- Thanks for pointing it out!
Good to know and am glad he didn't leave his FOB in plain sight as we had parked in a shady area at one point!

I really need to contact my dealer and ask how they did it. I had the second fob and it had a dead battery(my beta testor). But anyways, it was about 25 miles from the truck when they locked my only working one in. And boy was I salty I didn't have the key to unlock the door with. That was at home since the new fobs don't have the key attached. I need to get a magnet and put that under the truck just in case now, I was going to keep it in the center console in case I wanted to lock the inside places but I may need it outside as well.

My thoughts exactly.
I hope Carl comes up with the slide-out key design soon...

I am definately good with the new fob. I don't want it any bigger, this feels perfectly sized to me. I do think I am going to try to get a second key cut though that way I can have an easy access inside and a life saver outside! Lol.

After locking myself out of the truck on a trip, I had a key cut and added a lock box in the bed. There's no chip in it so all it can do is open the doors but it's nice to have the peace of mind that I can get in the cab any time.

I alluded to this early on. Here is what I said..

"Dependent on where the fob (without a Faraday Bag) is placed inside the JL/JT, you may be still able to lock the vehicle but probably not."

It is kind of hard to put it in words. I fell short in my wording..
Your words didn't fall short -- I was backing that statement up and even quoted it! I was very surprised when I found out the extra key had been in the truck after multiple locks and unlocks for three days! When we were searching for the lost FOB, at first I even rejected the idea that it might still be in the truck because it was my (erroneous) understanding there would have been no way I could have locked it in there.

(Little did I know the FOB in my pocket allowed me to do so, something we all should be aware of, particularly if it were to be left in plain sight. Edit - and with the other FOB in your pocket it appears it doesn't matter where you leave the first FOB, it could even be on the dash or in the key/iphone pocket.)

When I was testing mine, I just tossed the fob on the driver's seat. :surprised:
