Found a spy photo that displays how DI Labs handled the fob battery..

Battery just slips in the battery cradle and you close the fob up.... no juggling a battery when you are go to close the fob up..

I had the same issue with my fob after dropping it.
I dropped my beta unit on the ground yesterday. First time. Anyways the battery slipped from its little cradle and wouldn't let me in the truck. Simple fix, remove the screw reseat the battery, tighten screw back up was good to go. Glad I was still around some tools instead of not though.
I had the same issue after dropping mine. The spring steel that holds the battery against the button side seems sufficient so I just added a little piece of folded paper on the side of the battery between it and the side of the fob case pushing the battery against the side spring steel where I think it was loosing connection. I have dropped it a few times since and no loss of function.

Might be a dumb comment, but if there isn’t a way to carry the physical key inside the fob how would y’all go about locking the glove box, seats etc..

Currently this is what I did. I can leave the key in the truck until I want to lock the boxes then I can take it with me.

For the "put it on a key ring" crowd, I hate carrying anything extra, so I don't want to carry a key ring with me everywhere. That's the joy of keypad locks at home/work, and a keyless entry system that just stays in my pocket. But I guess if the key is in the truck nobody can steal the truck itself so it's not like leaving the fob in the truck. Maybe I'll go this route.

What I was struggling with. Defeated the purpose for me if I had to carry the loose key now on a key ring. That’s more in the way than a larger fob for me. I may still need to weigh my options.

We'll revisit the key pocket request. I am using one of the keyring adapters shown in the attached photo. Adding a key pocket into the fob that's intended only for emergencies wouldn't be a monumental design task but will require some time.

I appreciate the response and no worries at all. Just a callout for my specific situations and what I experience. Can’t wait to see the final iterations of what y’all all come up with

I agree with you. That is why it stays in the truck...... plus this way you could lock the fob inside and take the key with me instead of it. Would be good for water events!...I don't know how the dealer did it but last time I had service done they locked the fob inside for me so I could pick up after hours.

I am not real keen on... don't believe in locking the glove box and center console though.

I could easily and quickly gain access to the lock glove box or center console on a JT/JL and most other vehicles without any tools, mine have never been locked. The only time I need the key would be to open the door incase the fob was not operating.

@Lucky1

Just remember, you cannot lock a stock fob or this aftermarket fob in the JL/JT unless it is placed in a Faraday Bag.

Dependent on where the fob (without a Faraday Bag) is placed inside the JL/JT, you may be still able to lock the vehicle but probably not.

Terrific Faraday Bag here:

I have a spare emergency fob hidden internally inside my JT in a similar if not the same Faraday bag. I need to try wrapping the fob in aluminum foil to see if that works as well as the Faraday bag just to satisfy my curiosity.

Agreed on locking the inside PLASTIC containers. They are mostly useless, except in the case of valets, service visits, and things like that. Locks keep those people out, because they'd create a trail of evidence otherwise.

I have BOLT locks that use the stock ignition key, so I also need the key for that. They make key-alike hood locks, spare tire locks, padlocks, and hitch locks.

I don't know how the dealer did it but they were able to lock my stock fob in the truck...I showed up on new years day to get it and the battery i had placed in the beta fob unbeknownst to me was dead. I went to 4 places mainly gas stations looking for a battery to fit to no avail. Ended up driving 20 miles home getting the real key and going back to the dealer. You could see the big fob sitting in the cup holder! I went the next day and bought 2 batteries at Walmart
