Been waiting for the EcoDiesel to come to the JK/JL for a long time; V8 torque and improved fuel economy seemed like a no-brainer.

Traded in my 3rd Pentastar JK for this JTR a couple weeks ago (4 month order wait) and I’ve been super impressed with this gen of the EcoDiesel. It’s fast and fun to drive!

I’ve owned several diesels before, Duramax LML (awesome), Cummins ISL (impressive), Cummins 6.7 (mostly gutless).

I also had a 2014 Grand Cherokee with the 2nd gen EcoDiesel and it was pretty lackluster. Significant turbo lag and lacked power overall. The JTR just flat moves!

Anyway, first post here; loving the JTR and this forum has been a great resource. Thanks!

I totally agree. I drove mine stock for a few weeks waiting on backordered lift/wheels/tires and it definitely just goes. It's the first diesel ive ever owned so I wasn't sure what to expect but it has surprised me in multiple ways. Before the lift, it would put my head back into the headrest when I punched it and still get 23-24 mpg's. I didn't drive it like that very often but loved knowing it was there. After the lift, it's not quite as quick and the lag is a little more pronounced but it still gets to 80 without any issues and gets ~18 mpg with 40" tires and no regear (yet). The 3.6 was sufficient but this engine is exceptional!

I'm lovin' my JTR. Good fuel mileage and power. I punch it and it goes. Been a few times I've seen 90 on the speedo and not realized it.

Love mine. Seriously pulls my 16' cargo trailer as well as my older F250 with 7.3 Powerstroke. Smile everytime I give it some petal!

That's the first thing on my list when I get mine (ordered.) Did you buy a second PCM? Get it cloned?
I read on this forum about a guy who used a 2nd ECM. My concern would be that I believe the ECM tracks engine starts so potentially you could have 5 starts logged and 10k miles on the truck which could be a flag and get your warranty denied.

Just a (possibly paranoid) thought.

Yeah, I know about GDE. Probably a post-warranty mod for me. I hear the engine tune is great, how do you like the transmission tune?
I like it. It likes to hold a gear til about 2000 rpm and it downshifts as you slow down. The only thing I wish it did was hold a gear while in drive on cc on hills. It's turning about 1400 rpm at 62 in 8th with the 37's and that is around peak torque. I would expect it to hold 8th up and down the hills but it wants to downshift and sometimes does a 8-5 which is a bit harsh. Stock trans tune does that as well. That being said, it's the first automatic transmission I have owned since my 04 Silverado that I sold in '09. The OD is so extreme in these that they might all downshift like this. Also there are parts of the transmission that GDE does not overwrite if you have the advanced safety package. But all in all money well spent.

Thanks!! I wasn't sure how they'd turn out but I really like them!! The finish on them is awesome and makes then super easy to clean - its almost like a bedliner type finish.
