I modified this pigtail from Oracle to do it my way with aux switch or reverse either way.
You only need one of these. You can make it simple with one of these or use two individual diodes and roll your own (above diagram).
I like this method. It's neat, tidy, weather-resistant and so on.
This was my 2022, but it's the same on my current 2025. I can run these lights any time - for loading up my trailer after dark, whatever.
