For what its worth, I just picked up a new (2020) Mojave and only noticed that there was no mounting racket yesterday at first fuel stop... I went through everything and only found a bag with the two screws. It has instruction sheet and it says that you tap holes and affix (with torque limit) the plate to the space in the bumper. I have used foam strip on my 2010 Camaro as that had no bracket as such either and do not see any issues with scratching or vibration with that. The nylanuts as a pacer and the foam should be a good solution, but I will watch it for a while...

Update - spoke to a friend in Canada who has the Rubicon and his had a bracket as well. I will not attached directly to the bumper for above described reasons and having to use self tapping screws instead of having the threaded holes already located is a huge miss from Jeep in my opinion. Pay a lot fo money only to have that crappy answer to putting on our tags!!!

I painted a metal plate frame Mojave orange , put it on with security stainless screws with rubber washers behind plate frame metal, doesn’t touch the plastic bumper really hard to tear off I would think and looks great!....Jack

Ohhh job security for some with that. So many things, in some locations that could get a vehicle towed / impounded. Not trying to start thread war but that's a violation of some states traffic codes. And things like that are what some LEO's are watching for.... I've known a quite a few of them.

Thanks for your service, there are still many / most I believe that still do appreciate it!
Thanks, I'll add that back being a Infantryman was so much better, being less stressful, less paperwork and I didn't have to worry about a lot things I do now.... Being sued ect.

heh, intersting. Didnt even know that was a thing
From what I can find out, these were included up until units that were built up to end September 2019. I am trying to source one, but the Jeep Customer Care and my Dealer have gone quiet again...Really crappy idea to bolt onto bumper like they did.

Neighbors son-in-law just bought a Ram and it is same thing. List price is less than $12 if you can find one.

This may seem trivial, but I could have sworn I have seen Gladiators with a rear plate bracket.
My Rubi doesn't have one, dealer screwed a dealer frame right to the plastic bumper cover right above the two mounting bolts in the middle.

Any of you guys get a true bracket to attach a rear plate?
If not, what aftermarket are you using if any?
Can't find anything at mopar/jeep parts site.
This what I had. Didn't realize there was a bracket!

My 2021 doesn't have a rear bracket, either. The plate is put on with sheet metal screws, much like most every other new car I've owned for the past 40 years.

Cars with metal mounting surfaces (trunk lids, bumpers) are not using sheet metal screws. They typically have brackets that attach to the metal and hold the license plate. otherwise they would rust almost immediately. Vehicles with plastic bumpers do sometimes mount with screws directly into the plastic but in my experience that is usually front bumpers - I assume because some states do not require front license plates and car manufactures don't design the space accordingly. In comparison all states have rear license plates and so the design is usually more robust... have you ever seen lights for the front license plate?

I think the point of the OP's question was that on a 50K vehicle the gladiator should have come (and maybe actually did come in some cases) with a bracket to hold the rear license plate that was more robust that simply puncturing holes in the factory plastic bumper. I know mine was in the wrong location and used cheap galvanized sheet metal screws so I had to relocate about 1 inch higher and used 4 stainless coarse thread wood screws to properly hold the my license plate and frame.

As I stated above, the plate will vibrate on the bumper and mar it, there will be a noticeable rattle from the rear, eventually the screws will break.

Not to mention it makes it easy for someone to rip your plate right off the bumper. Real cute game the kids like to play.

I plan on mounting the bracket with 1/4-20 stainless steel hardware with nylanuts and washers.
Going to order this from Autozone. Then will see about mounting it solid to rear bumper. From there the square pop in plate fastener kits will work.

Hmm. All these years, I've been doing it backwards.
Throwing away metal license plate frames
that advertise the dealer and brackets
that rust and rattle and come off in the car wash.
Always preferred the clean look of a tucked in plate.

However, I have to confess that my used Gladiator
came from a state with no requirement for a front plate.
It had no mounting bracket. My state requires a front plate.
So I did break down and order the plastic box-like mounting bracket
that will center the license plate in the shapely front bumper.
I did not want to redneck my new-to-me Rubicon.
