Based on the aerial screenshots of the JT posted before, the JT's rear hardrop section does have the same removable panels as the JK/JL over the front seats, so the rear cab section should be way lighter and easier to remove since it doesn't have the extra set of windows.

I think so, with some small differences.

Gas cap in front of wheel well.
Roll bar a bit more rounded on the back.
Lip of bed will match the new body line (which I think the JL wrangler was forced to adopt to standardize production)

Would be smart to put a step in that void between the rear door and bed.

Ugly.

"French door style"

Its offset on a refrigerator because the ratio of frozen food vs chilled food. Its offset on a truck because?

Not to mention how difficult it would be to have a roll down window mate up with a removable top and remain rain tight. Having the window track correctly after each removal and reinstall of the top would be a nightmare, from an engineering state.
Convertibles do this all the time with the side windows, no reason it’d be difficult. That said, I expect the rear window to be removable, not powered. Which is a bit of a bummer, but I don’t expect to have a top on mine very often anyway...

Presumably to have a shorter door to swing open for use in parking lots or close to a trailer. there have been times I wished my JK opened that way, as swinging it all the open was impossible in some circumstances.

That is UGLY though...

After seeing the rear windows come out of the JLU with the retractable top. I wonder if the rear window of the JT might do something similar

I think it will flip down. Where else are you going to sit after getting where you need to go?

Huh? Oh, you mean the tailgate.
