I recently regeared to 4.88's. Through the break in process I was taking it extremely easy. After the 500 mile service (and normal driving) it seemed really sluggish and I found that the shop didn't change the gear ratio in my Tazer mini from 4.10's to 4.88. My questions is... would that have caused any damage or issues, or did it just affect the shift points? Just want to take the appropriate action if it is a concern.

Thanks for the input.

Just shift points, no different than driving around with 35's and not regearing.

Might end up being your favorite mod to date. Loved my old JKUR with 5.13's.

I hate those amazing mods that can’t be seen. :) I have 5.13’s as well and love them.

No worries on damage before, but she should shift better now!

Question. If your Gladiator was a manual, would reprogramming the regear with the Tazer make a difference at all? (i.e. is there some sort of extra thing that the Tazer does when selecting the appropriate regear or would this aspect only pertain to automatics?)

When I regeared a couple months ago (manual) about a minute after driving out of the shop, a warning light came on the dash and it stopped displaying what gear I was currently in.

Further research on the internet revealed that when I got regeared and updated the tazer, somehow the engine realized the revs weren't matching the old gear ratio (or something...) and needed to 'relearn'. Web search revealed you need to completely disconnect both batteries for a minute, then when connected, you need to drive at least 50mph in 6th gear for a minute or two to reprogram the computer. This process worked just fine.

Much appreciated on the feedback. I saw the process regarding manuals on the Tazer site in terms of resizing tires; didn't realize it affected regearing as well.
