Yes I believe both 7th and 8th gear are overdrives I know 8th for sure is

Yes as stated above it is a dual. Overdrive. The American made version of the ZF 8 speed automatic is labeled the 850RE and for the diesel it is labeled the “more robust” 8HP75

“A unique set of two overdrive ratios improve highway fuel economy and reduce overall noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) levels.”

The overdrive however is not selectable, but the transmission does very well at managing itself under load. You can also manual shift the auto 8 speed.
