I think I know the answer but it's best to ask. Heavy rain here in Panama. Went through a big puddle, umm that's what these rides are built to do. One of my TPMS modules goes down. Alert is up, check tire pressure. All is good there. I'm thinking damn I just had these replaced 4 months ago when I bought the vehicle. Well, the next day it came back, ahh nice just a glitch. Nope few hours later down for the count. Go back to my repair facility thinking defective. Well, it got wet and shorted out the antenna. So I have water getting in. They said take to tire shop to troubleshoot. I can and will do that, but I'm open to comments on the right move to stop this in the future.

Thank you

TPMS sensors are inside the wheel. They are sealed in. There's no getting wet or shorting out, etc. - purely in the wheel at the inside end of things.

As far as what gets the info from the sensors - yeah, that's part of the Jeep, not part of the tires, and things could get wet. Generally, if you have remote start, depending on the year of the Jeep, it will impact remote start, too. I wonder if a "tire shop" will be equipped to work on that specific part of the Jeep........... maybe on the 2020 since it's a distinct unit apart from other things in that year.

I use dielectric grease on all connections, nothing mounted inside should ever get wet.
Anything outside or under - do the same, and make sure things are sealed up.
I've never seen that TPMS module go bad from going through some water, though.
Maybe coincidence?

Thanks for the feedback from all. I don't have a lot of answers relative to my understanding tires, rims, mechanics in general. All I can offer is the repair shop gave me the sensor and showed me the corrosion on it relative to their explanation of the effect, it got wet, shorted out the antenna, Yes it definitely should not see any moisture inside the tire. I'll be following up with a tire shop to troubleshoot the seal of the tire and wheel. That's all I have for now. I'm back in the US so it'll be another month before I visit again.
