While outfitting my 2023 Gladiator for overlanding and the installation of a camper I inadvertently damaged the headlamp to dash wiring harness. I've been trying to get a cost estimate from my local Jeep dealer who is 40 miles away before having it towed to them to be repaired. They are not returning my phone calls, texts, or messages through their web site. This makes me question the kind of service they are likely to provide. Their Yelp service reviews are mostly bad.

Has anyone replaced the headlamp to dash wiring harness on their own? Examining the harness and connectors it looks pretty much straight forward with most of the connectors being readily accessible and not tricky to separate. There is one under the cowl and a couple that appear to require the removal of the right front fender. I'm probably more concerned about replacing all of the tie downs and standoffs than actually replacing the harness itself.

I generally do most of my own vehicle maintenance and this doesn't look as bad as some other wiring work I've done in the past other than there being a lot of connections on the this harness.

Any information or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

What sort of damage did you do to the harness that you need to replace it in its entirety?

The lights are controlled not directly through the headlight switch in the dash............
there's not a harness that goes from lights to the switch.

I was mounting a fuse holder on the right side of the cowl under the hood. I had a thin piece of wood to protect the wiring harness but when I drilled one of the holes it split and the drill bit went into the harness. It didn't look like there was any damage until I went to move the truck a few days later and it threw a bunch of errors on the screen. I carefully opened up the harness where the drill went in and it was carnage inside.

I suppose it would be possible to fix it but to reduce the possibility of future weird problems I think it would be best to replace the whole harness.

The wiring harness in question is called the "headlamp to dash wiring harness" in the parts listing.

There must be a connector inside the firewall (in the cabin) because the headlights are controlled by the BCM, the switch connects back to the BCM and tells it what is desired.

Goes straight to BCM. When you add the 'halo wire' to a 2020 when installing LEDs, those go to C1A on BCM.

That's what I was gathering from some schematics........ goes from BCM out to headlights.
Headlight switch is wired back to BCM.

I bet it bundles in with the giant harness in the grommet and then breaks out right after to the BCM. Yeah....screw replacing that. Fix the wires.

I'd just fix the wires in the engine compartment. Hook solder, heat shrink, done.
That's my first thought.
Not that it's mine and I've put a lot of thought into it - but there's got to be some work and to have to take apart that much........... through that firewall in that area, clear back along to the BCM sitting back there? That's got to be one where some interior parts have to come loose or out.
Unwrap back a ways and fix what's toast, bundle it back up again to make it look new.

Marine type heat shrink to keep it weather proof.

After making room to pull the wiring harness out and performing more surgery to splay out the wires I found that the damage wasn't as bad as it first appeared. I fixed the harness in place and everything is working now except the climate controls but from what I've read on the forum that could be from just unhooking the batteries ☹

Give it a day/24 hours. Sometimes a sleep/awake/sleep cycle will get things communicating again. Don't panic until a day has gone by.
Then we'll help you panic - uh, I mean, see what else can be done.........
