Does anyone in the Phoenix area have either the Aries or Rock Slide Engineering retractable running boards I can see before I buy?

Very nice, thank you for posting this video. I did wind up going with the Rockslides and love them.

Lol! Just saw the date of your initial post. That was a while ago. Happy to hear you like them too. Are you keeping the pivot areas lubed up like the book recommends? I’ve been using a silicone spray.

Totally agree with you . They are just incredible .
anyone experience some troubles with them ? Actually I don’t know why mine seems to be a bit lazy at the end of the course .Looks like the electric motor has pain to make the step moving …. Any clues ?

You have to keep them lubed, and if your battery is low, they move slow too. If you start the jeep, there is a bit more power to retract them.

Sorry, not in your area but I just installed the RockSlide Engineering rails and love them. Worth every penny!
Curious about the parasitic drain on the battery. Have you noticed a gradual drain on the battery? I'm afraid of leaving my JT unused for a week then coming back to a dead battery.

They only draw when they are moving.

So unless you sit and open and close the door 100 times without starting the truck they won't make a difference.

There is no "drain on the battery" as long as you actually start the truck. At which point the alternator can replace any charge used to extend and retract the step in roughly 10 seconds.

Many things that sit and wait for an incoming command draw power in the "waiting" mode. I'm not sure what triggers these - but if it's simply sitting there and then gets power when a door is opened, there would be no draw. But if it's like the "ignition switch" that isn't doing anything - except waiting for a radio command to do something, it's always drawing something.
Likely these would not because I suspect they are hard-wired and aren't in any "waiting" mode.
These trucks have enough things drawing power the whole time they are sitting in the garage that they certainly don't need anything else pulling power.
I note a drop in battery voltage with modern vehicles when they just sit for a week or two. Very little is truly "off" and "unpowered" when they sit.

I recommend calling Rockslide directly and talk with a tech support person about it.

My expectation was that there was some kind of a relay that was tripped by the interior lights or the Canbus equivalent. Which would have zero draw when waiting.

There is no draw while waiting of it is connected right the tuenon power is connected to the wakeup power that goes to the cluster radio and dome lights, then the feed power is connected straight to the battery.

I have a worst case question. What if you are stuck on something. Lets say high centered and you get out of the truck. Is there a failsafe so that when it can't deploy the step won't just keep running until the motor burns out or something bends/breaks?

It uses the wiper motor out of an F250 so it has overload protection built in. Basically if ot stays stalled to long it shuts off. It works well for not taking out knees and smashing feet, but also causes issues in freezing temps where the steps stall out and dont store. My guess is the grease is to stiff and the joints have alot of friction cold.

As for wheeling there is a switch you install above the OBD connector. You can disable them when you want. I usually do that off road.
