Been looking into doing a semi retro build with my Anvil but been a struggle trying to zero in on what color combos to add. Anyway i ran into this build on a Sport S Max Tow Purple Riegn or Rain lol Never been a fan of a white top but this looks really cool. I like that Scrambler font and the white with grey works well. I wonder if those are the same BF Goodrich tires from Willy package that sometimes are included. Those white wheels look really good.

The Willys bfg’s are mud terrains
You are correct! I notice that after the fact. Never was big on the BF tires but i like these with the raised white lettering. They look tuff as well

They're using BGF for MTs on the new Willys? Thought I saw they stuck with Firestone MTs. Could be wrong.

FYI the FS MTs are trash for the current cost (about $200 less than Mickey Thompsons for a set). When new they're okay, look aggressive, and bite in dry off-road. I have about 7/32 of tread left and they're getting louder on the road (expected) and starting to be SHIT in the mud, even with plenty of ground clearance. I almost got stuck in 3" of mud on a beginner trail the other day going up the slightest grade (maybe 1%) and had to send it after 3 polite attempts prior, which I'm not the biggest fan of.

Retired. Beach bum.
An old friend of mine had a 1979 Scrambler he bought new with his Navy re-enlistment bonus. In dark blue with white cab roof and similar stripes, plus the usual steel rock crawler wheels in white. At the same time I had a 78 Scout II TERRA 4x4 truck. We had a lot of fun!

Good information to know and thanks. How many miles you have on them ? Many people say they wear quicker then expected. I did considered them when i had my diesel overland but was concern with some long term reviews. Combine that with how many city miles i do and i prob would be changing them out like 25k lol . They are a bit expensive as well for a set of 5 however i do see them at bargian prices as take offs.

I have a '24 Willys that came with the Firestone MT2s. They were great for about 15,000 miles. After my 3rd tire rotation, I noticed they were very loud and felt unbalanced. At 20,000 miles and the 4th rotation, they were still extremely loud, so I had them re-balanced. The passenger side tires are worn to all different tread depths. I'm measuring anywhere from 8/32" to 15/32", even with blocks that are right next to each other, front to back. The driver's side appears to have worn normally.

I'm getting some all-terrain tires installed, hopefully this week if I can get an appointment. I'm around 24,900 miles right now.

That’s a interesting combination on this one, never seen a max tow in that setup, but I like it!

I really like that color combo. White hardtop looks good. I built mine in white. The Quadratech retro wheels are spot on for a throwback look.

Just wish somebody would make a tan soft top to go with the tan interior I have.

I know i am in the super minority in this however honesty speaking ive always enjoy the stock dueler tires on the gladiators. I ran the my dueller HT tires on my diesel overland for over 55k miles and still had some life before swicthing to General Grabbers. In my current 2024 max towbase sport setup i still run the stock tires and they have performed great for over two years even with all the amor wieght (400lbs) ive added. Stop and go take off is still like day 1 and i see 8th per usaully. I am thinking of staying with something similar in 32 or 33 mybe the revos 3 which i hear is going away or the new dueler accent AT tires. I believe these are very underrated tires

I know very diffrent but yet simple. I would do a white grill on this and i am even a fan of too much white. That would look awesome like a chief style scrambler

I've always admired and loved your retro build for years. You keep it simple but awesome. How are the retro alloy wheels ? I was looking at them but struggled to see picture how the gloss white or satin black will fit my potential retro build. The AMC logos on the hubs pop very well with the light grey/dark grey retro decals. The wilco hicthgate drop tire carrier would look awesome with your build.

Thank you very much. The wheels have held up remarkable over the 5+years now. Will be 6 years in October. Not a ounce of any type of blem or corrosion etc. I will say, if the chrome version of these wheels were available when I got mine, I might have went that route.

Looking forward to see what you come up with and your build. Anvil is such a awesome color and I'm sure you'll do an excellent job with it.

Thank you for your kind words. My struggle is still finding the right main color to base the rest of the build off. This always happens with me lol Anyway i am most likely going with the blue family of colors. Thinking of these(see pictures below) are base for the color for the rest of the build. Btw i got one question for you, I remember you had the general grabber tires and now your running the BF goodrich,Both look awesome on your build so which one you find to be the better proformer ? Thank you for confirming the retro alloy wheels are great buy, Currently a set of 5 could be had for around $1100ish. I can see why you would of chosen the chrome as it would of been perfect with the grey decals.
