I had Duratrac's on three of my F-150. Living in Ontario and Canada, i don't care what anyone say the Duratrac's ROCK THE SNOW! I Rarely used 4wd, just the locker with 2wd and never an issue. With that being said SC doesn't get much snow. I didn't use winter's with my Duratrac's and I usually got 50,000mi's (80,000ish kms) out of them. I didn't find them bad for noise. Off roading, I used them mostly on fire road and logging roads, again through snow and mud and lots of crap and they performed EXTREMELY well. I never used them for rock crawling so I cannot comment there.
P.s. I NEVER punctured or had a flat with my Duratrac's. BFG's have wear issues and Toyo makes a great tire. I'd steer clear of the Nitto's, Both my brother and I returned a set after less that 3,000kms due to scalloping.
A Canadian's 10c so about 2c US :D
