Hi all - I searched and could not find a thread on this, if there is already I apologize. I have a 2021 Gladiator Willys and while rotating tires at 15k (bought new), I noticed Oil all over the right rear rotor, brakes and wheel. I brought it in and dealer confirmed. This has happened every single time I have rotated tires. I am 90% highway. Has anyone else had this issue? I am surprised the dealer acts surprised since I have had this procedure at least 3 times. Just curious if anyone had this and it was resolved etc..

Just search “leaking axle” and you will find many posts. This has been an ongoing issue for sometime. Some have said the fix is a replacement axle assembly (axle, bearings, seal) and some have said the repair requires a complete replacement of axle housing assembly. The only reason a service writer would not be aware of this issue is if they were brand new to the Jeep brand.

Service Advisor 101 training teaches them to say "This is the first time we have seen this issue" even if the service department waiting room is full of people there with the same problem.

I can see why they replace the axle assembly (axle shaft, bearing, and seal) and not just the seal. It looks like a total pain to replace the seal on an existing axle assembly.

The only solution is to swap to one-tons and roll on 39"s.

Axle bearing and seal are not that hard to do. I did find the cause on the wife's GC rear axle leak to be a bad brake caliper which was overheating (melting) the seal causing the leak. So if you're going in for the bearing and seal change, put a new caliper on it as a preventative measure.
