Rock Sliders For Overlanding

New to the gladiator and overlanding. Looking at the SmittyBilt Apollo Sliders or the Paramount Automotive Gen 2.
Are any of the members running either slider ? . Thanks in advance for info

If you just overland and won’t really be bashing rocks, find a take off pair of the Rubicon or Mojave slides for free/cheap.

I have a pair sitting on the side of my house I would sell to somebody for 100 bucks.

Agreed, my only experience on the JT is with the sliders that came stock on my Rubicon - but they fit very tight on the body, are lightweight compared to other options, and are cheap to free.

If there’s some other attribute you’re looking for (also a functional step, bigger or burlier, a particular look), you’ll want to add that info

Imo: I'd skip the two options you listed, you'd destroy them into the body if you actually put the weight of the truck on them.

If I may, I think you might need to help narrow things down a bit. There are dozens of perfectly good options for steps and sliders. Budget? Shape/design? USA/Import?

I think any of the rockhard, jcr, metalcloak, arb, ace fab, etc major players would get you better protection. I personally have the rockhards.

Well - I have these. Ordered mine angled up. The angled down ones would be better to if you want to use as a step imo. Add some grip tape to them.

Rock Hard products are tops. Heavy duty for sure, I've got Rock Hard rails on my 05 LJ.

I have tube sliders with a big gap between the inner and outer tubes on my old Tacoma. Once one of the dogs jumped up into the back seat but missed short a little bit, slid backward and his back paw went into the gap as he fell backward. By some miracle I was right behind him when it happened and I caught him just in time. Would have been a broken back leg, many hours deep into desert backcountry, probably half a day before we could have gotten to a vet

I am not a fan of tube sliders with a gap big enough for a paw, with no top cover. If you don't have dogs YMMV

These are what I have on one of my JKUR's and on my JTR:

Not unlike others that have been brought up, they are pretty bomber and they bolt to the frame (or could be welded if you were so inclined).

Stay away from the ones that mount using the body bolts. My other JKUR has the Ace sliders which use the body bolts, and I came down hard on one side and the body mount bushings allowed enough flex that the slider pushed up and bent the tub below the passenger front door...it is quite noticeable.

Anyways, I too am an overlander with my Gladiator and I like the full length step/slider for accessing the RTT or the solar panels.

They give very good traction when you have wet/muddy shoes and are trying to get up to deal with the tent or whatever.
