First off - whew, there is so much to learn to install these things. The video's are only useful if you've done a lot of work on a Gladiator in regards to trim, under body cable routing, and know how to use flag bolts and how to figure out what to do when your supposed 'Flag on a stick' doesn't come with the stick!
If you have done this before, its a 3-5 hours install, just like they said. If you haven't, its about a day and a half install. There are lots of moving parts, and it is best done when you can be relaxed and in zero hurry.
On to my question:
Part of the instructions say: Don't tighten the motor mounting bolts until the very last step after everything is wired and you have cycled the steps 3 times.
My assumptions (since they never say 'why') is it helps adjust the positioning of the mounts to not bind.
My driver side step work perfectly.
My passenger side step goes up about halfway.
I climbed under the Jeep and tightened everything up on the drivers side. The front motors have a 'rock guard.'
Their is a bolt in the middle of the motor underneath that has to be tightened.
Easy access and no problem tightening it up behind the drivers side (front) rock guard.
The passenger side rock guard completely hides every part of the underneath portion of the passenger front side mount. (Oddly there is no rock guard for the back motors on either side)
I suspect that something is amiss with how I installed the passenger side rock guard, however, while positioning it, I couldn't figure out any other way to mount it. It is indeed a Rubiks cubes type of scenario.
Finally, the question part: Does anyone here have any actual experience installing the Rough Country E-Board, especially on a Gladiator? If so, do you recall if the passenger side rock guard looked very different once installed compared to the drivers side?
The parts list came with what look like shims with zero information in the booklet about what they are for, and where they go, (if this is even what needs to be done)
I am open to any and all comments that might be helpful, even if you haven't installed these specific boards.
Thank you for reading this long post.
