Wondering what gear oil to use for the rear and front diffs with lockers? Does the presence of a “friction modifier” hurt anything? I see that a limited slip calls for a modifier but I’m not sure if a locker calls for the same? Any possibility of it hurting the locker switch? I see a lot of people “potting” the switch.
I see we can use either 75-80 or 75-140 weight correct? Thanks.

Gear oils with friction modifiers do not present a problem with electronic locker diffs.

The owners manual call out lists 75W-85 grade but most will opt for a 75W-90 as selection and pricing is more agreeable.

75W-140 grade while not called out in the owners manual, is called out in factory service data and recommended for those that tow.

Any GL-5 spec fluid in any brand will suffice. Everybody has their favorite flavor.

Thanks, I’m looking at changing both my front and rear, and was wondering if the friction modifiers would effect the locker in anyway, it seems to be a sensitive piece of tech.. anyway, on my 2022 I’ll have to remove the covers to drain the oil so I assume it would be a good time to spray any metal debris away from that sensor with brake cleaner at that time.
