All Rubicons have metal rear bumpers. The front metal one is optional, the rear steel one is standard to the trim. It is the same on all Rubicons. The bracket for the bedside rock sliders is welded to the metal.

Good to know.

Thanks for the info. The bedside rock sliders are a simple bolt on installation. No welding required. They can be bolted on to any Gladiator. I have the bedside rock sliders with the plastic rear bumper. With the plastic bumper you do need to make a very minor modification to the bumper to enable the sliders to fit properly under the bumper. My Gladiator is a 80th Anniversary.

Cool. I was thinking you might have to trim some of the plastic back, and wasn't sure if the bracket was even there, or needed to be welded on. Clearly from yours, the bracket is there. Did you just have to trim the bumper a bit, and bolt up?

The Rear Bed Sliders come with a bracket that bolts to the frame then the slider bolts to the backet. As you said just trim a small portion of plastic from the lower corner of the bumper. I added one plastic pop rivet to tie the plastic's together. Very easy install and mod.

The bed slider is 2 pieces per side. Bracket and slider. 100% bolt on nothing to weld. Trim the plastic to clear the bed slider and you're done.

Bracket: 3 bolts to either frame or tow hitch or both, I forget

Slider: 3 bolts to bracket, 2 to bumper

If you don't have the oem receiver hitch, you'll need to add a piece of pipe in between the ball hitch mounting wings. It's covered somewhere in this forum.

I know many don't like the OE steel rear bumper, but in my one-time experience, I'll say, it's strong. My off-road adventures probably won't ever be aggressive enough to test it. But I did accidentally back into a concrete ballast in a parking lot right after I got my JT. Only damage was some scraped black paint, which I was easily able to repair. It sticks out just enough that it saved my taillight from getting damaged too. It did its job.
I want the steel rear for mine............ but to find anything in my area, not possible.

my Freedom has the Rubi rock rails that also go behind the rear fenders and that then gave me the Rubi steel bumper and 2 hooks ... the Freedom is based on the Sport

I recently put an OEM rubicon rear steel bumper and bed sliders on my sport s, and while they look similar the OEM steel is definitely beefier. It also gets a couple small bolts on either side of the hitch that tie the bottom of the bumper into the bottom of the hitch frame so it won't "peel" up as easily if your dragging it over a rock. That combined with being tied into the rock rails at the back corners and it's definitely much more secure than the OEM plastic bumper.

Pic below for the subtle exterior differences (top is steel).

as usual you guys don't disappoint!
thanks for all the great information
You can add a second tow hook without having to cut your bumper if you use this trim piece from a Mojave rear bumper. It cost like $6.60. The pic is me holding it up to my bumper before I installed it.

I have that trim piece, got it a year or two ago, HOWEVER.......
To replace that bezel you have to remove the bumper and take it apart as it's apparently in between the outer and inner parts of the bumper. So some find it easier to trim.
I am so glad I didn't hurry putting that in and the other hooks on as otherwise I'd be taking it back apart and moving it to a new truck.

Yup. Had to take the bumper apart anyway since swapping out damaged bumper and to told swap over back up sensors.

Does anyone have the rubicon rear bumper part number? I got rear end and I’m kind of concerned that they will just replace by rubicon rear bumper with a standard plastic bumper. The only part numbers I can find are for two bumpers. 1 for with park sensors and 1 without.

Thanks

Attached you will find the estimate with part numbers.
