Ruffland Kennel For Your Dog

I have the large ruffland kennels and one fits on the back seat if the door is opened all the way. It is not optimal for a large dog to jump up that high and lifting them is comical to say the least. I opted to remove the rear seat and install a platform which I’m my opinion is best. I ratchet strapped it down to the seat legs for security.
If I take both dogs they go in the back either covered or not weather dependent.

I am in the same boat. 3 dents left side 2 on the right side just above the rock sliders.

Most are from our dog slapping his back foot a little against the bottom part when he jumps in. One I know is from the dog ramp I set against it. Did not think the Jeep would be so sensitive

I am actually considering the highest body armor by fishbone to add some strength to this cheap flimsy material, whatever they are using today. I cannot believe how easy it dents. Our temp solution for that dog is to hold a large piece of thick cardboard along the angle so any feet or knees will bump the carboard instead.

Jup, I am currently thinking of either getting rock sliders that protect the entire side better or the same scale armor or similar.
With the Fishbone it looks like you have to drill anyway. Maybe if I take the armor to the body shop and they have to drill they can figure out a way to spot repair without doing the entire side and still make it look ok and most important... make sure that it won't rust.
Problem is getting the dents out, body shop wants a hefty sum, and they won't be able to just do the spots. They say clear off the area, then weld little pullers on and pull dents. Then repaint the entire piece.
I have a thick rubber mat now that I roll down from the rear seat platform for in and out, but also considering building a step solution for the dog. The ramp he hates, and it damages the Jeep more.

Love my wife, she is like: It's a Jeep, so what if it has a few dings.

One other dog related topper item.

When I got the RSI, the roof was a separate section. I used that opportunity to wrap the roof in white. It makes a big difference. I used a non-contact thermometer to measure the roof temp on a very sunny clear day of about 85. The white portion was about 95 deg. The black portion was 135.

The wrap coat me about $90 from Fellers.com. The Wrap is 3M 2080 series in G10 Gloss White color.

I would only do that for dogs light enough that the air bag is disabled. Otherwise, it would be a definite no-go.

Thanks for the comments, have been refining the organization necessary to carry all the dogs, their gear and mine. The bag system I think is from Cabela’s it’s a shotgun scabbard. Designed to hang off the head rests but I made l brackets and hang it off the back wall.

So the wife wants to take a 9 hour trip. No problem except we normally had our dog Stella (75lbs Weimaraner) ride in her kennel when we owned a Tundra.

Tried sliding her kennel in this afternoon and that ain't happening! That goofy back door design prohibits that. Even with the front seat scooted all the way up it won't fit. I didn't try taking the door off, but that's not an option I really want to use. I am not crazy about having her ride at those speeds laying in the back seat.

Anyone else have a dog kennel inside their back seat for a larger dog?

Yes that's her in my avatar. Her vet calls her Ms Sexy.

The door check strap can be removed on one end to open the rear door further.

Gunner Intermediate size fits in the back seat. Removed the door hold open strut bolt and the strap to allow the door to open a little further. Lucky Duck medium fits as well. Ruff Land Intermediate and Large Gen II fit without removing the strut bolt.
