so my "jeep cares" specialist was no help. Wanted to tell me what i already know. The dealer has said it must be tires or lift. i said the tsb states that any lift that can be aligned to spec is no issue. They say my alignment is spot on. Besides, i have rubicon factory mopar parts for my lift with a tiny spacer. The dealer says the gearbox is fine. So bad gears dont exist?

She then states that the TSB is for wandering, not pulling. Again, i said BS it states plainly wandering or pull.

I even said to her that this has nothing to do with whats on it, this only started after the TSB gear install. I said others have had the same issue and had to have the install done a couple times.

SOL. sorry, you can go to another dealer for another opinion.

BS.

Just goes to show that those people don't read the TEXT in detail. It clearly says lift is fine if it's in alignment specs, wander and/or pull and also states it may feel like the steering wheel has excessive play.
So it covers play, wander, lead/pull, it coves it in case of lifts as long as it's in the service alignment specs............ pretty clearly says that if the customer complains, FIX IT.

Yep and thatā€™s what I said. All the jeepcares lady could say is well the dealer says itā€™s your tires or ā€œaftermarketā€ lift. Lol rubicon parts are aftermarket? The only aftermarket is the small spacer and all of that drove straight true before the TSB. I said some people even have to have it done more than once.
Her reply- I can help you find another dealer for another opinion.

Im supposed to go to the same dealer tomorrow that was scheduled before jeepcares specialist called me. I was supposed to have their ā€œgreat techā€ look and determine if itā€™s those parts. ā€œIf he says itā€™s tires, itā€™s tiresā€ was their exact quote.
Now Iā€™m wondering if I should still go tomorrow. Im thinking of going and printing out a ton of stuff.

Ok, so I came in and talked to their "good tech". He is gonna go over it himself. He agreed with me, that it shouldnt pull if it didnt before I brought it in. He said if it still pulls after he does all he does, he will get it back in here and do the TSB with a new one himself. Wish me luck on his workings today or the 2nd one being my golden ticket!!

Update 2 on today's visit:

Update again for today. Their master tech, was a pleasure to work with. He drove it after aligning himself, and checking everything. It drives better than it was for sure, but the right pull is still there a bit, and he even told me that. He went over all the alignment settings he did etc. He said nothing about my truck should cause it to pull like that. He stated he is going to try to talk to the Service manager and get me another gear ordered as there is nothing that should be causing that.

Now I just wait on them to call me and see if it gets approved.

Thatā€™s exactly the issue I have too. I have to hold the steering wheel to the left but the truck also drifts right when I let go. Iā€™ve always had the steel steering box. Mine is a late January 2021 build I believe. As I stated in another thread, this started after my tire rotation lol.

Truck just went by and I ran out to talk to the tech. He said he doesnt drive it everyday, but he thinks it still has just a slight slight pull with the one he did today. Said he went over everything the other tech did, made sure the new gear software module was updated again, etc etc.

I told him it drove much better after he got ahold of it the other day, and it did. I also feel that if its not any worse than he had it the other day, that would be fine as it was much much better once he had got ahold of it, but still not 100%

After the second gear, if it still has a slight slight pull (per him - i havent driven it yet), im gonna chalk it down to maybe tire wear. I am thinking this tech is super super picky with his work.

Edit: I just drove it back home. I am happy with the outcome. It seems fine for the most part to me. There may be some right pull, but it is very very slight, and I could prob attribute what I did feel to maybe road.
Glad I can hopefully put this behind me. I think the first time maybe had a lot to do with Tech who kept looking at it and installed the first go round, to then convincing service advisor that it was my fault for rubicon parts and 315/70/17 BFG tires. I think the 2nd FCA Master Cert tech made the biggest difference in this situation.

As for it now compared to the aluminum gear, I wouldnt say it made a huge difference to me, as mine was fairly decent. The steering maybe has a stiffer / heavier feel, but that is about all.

Glad I can maybe stop worrying about this and move on.
