You may be able to find a shop that does plastic repair that can fix it. Some upholstery or restoration shops have tools to repair scuffed or damaged plastic interior parts. Door panels, dashes, etc. The same process works on exterior plastics also. I repaired the textured panel on my Ram bumper by carefully heating the area with a heat gun, and pressing a piece of 80 grit sand paper on it. You really had to look close to tell any difference.

Scratch X or Meguires Back to Black will help.

OR,

3rd option. Upgrade it ?

What happened to my original bumper, and what replaced it.

Or just live with it, cheapest option by far.
I am afraid to say that option 3 is his only option. His bumper is non-repairable. He could be issued a citation with a bumper dragging on the pavement like that.

Seriously though, make up a cool story and drive on. It doesn't look bad on a Jeep. Unless it's a lease, then Meguire the heck out of it.

That is a Rubicon bumper, it's steel, not plastic.

In that case, I’d water sand it, match the color, and spray it. Actually, I wouldn’t worry about it. My wife, on the other hand, would be having a fit.

Probably easier to replace pieces than the whole bumper. The Rubicon has a steel bumper frame with plastic pieces, similar to the one in the ops picture
Bumber that cant take a bump??? Yep I had the same thin steel rectangular plate thats just strong enough to be mounted to the frame without bending and support a winch kit. Im not a muscular guy by any means and I can single arm curl the front bumber, but I get it, it keeps the mileage down and is perfectly fine for most jeep owners as long as nothing ever "bumps" it ;)

Hi all. The following happened to my rear bumper, and I can’t place how. I went to a detail shop and they weren’t able to repair/hide it. Other than replacing the bumper, any recommendations on how to cover it up?

Thanks!

Make it look deliberate. Hit some trails and get some scars. If your going to offroad your jeep it’s going to happen anyways

wanna see mine? ? Don't sweat it man. No one looks that close and thats how you get your Jeep a personality. its a Rubicon not a BMW.

Looks like a plastic bumper when i compare it to my steel version.

OP: hit it with some light heat from a heat gun or torch (held just enough away that it heats but doesn't melt the plastic)

Please do not give bad advice, it's a steel bumper. The Rubicon does not come with a plastic one. If you believe that a magnet sticks to plastic...
LOL where did OP say he stuck a magnet to it? Did you even bother to look at the pic that OP posted? Also, OP has “Mojave” in his signature. So please do not give bad advice. LOLLL

Sorry, my point in that was sharing the picture above which is a steel bumper you can see they are the same bumper.

Good catch on the Mojave, color correction on pics is a pain. Regardless though pretty sure Mojaves also have the Rubicon bumper as indicated by the two tow hooks which is only on the steel bumper. Plastics only have one unless you cut it out. So still a steel bumper...
