I’m looking at some shocks and wanted to see what everyone thought of the SDI set up. I’m running about 60% on road 20% on sand in 20% trails and no rock climbing.

thoughts?

There shock length are weird, the longest options are only 5/8" longer then stock

The cost is also going to keep most people away, for the less money you can get custom tuned fox/king remote reservoir shocks. Sure you don't get in-cab adjustability but the majority of people I have seen with adjustable shocks enjoy the novelty at first but soon enough settle in on a best all around setting. If your offroad trips often very from fully loaded to completely empty, or you find yourself bombing through the desert just to get to some technical rock crawling the in cab adjustability would be more useful.

I feel old and I'm only 40, but I think these trucks handle great for what they are and a decent monotube shock is more then enough for most everyone.

I can't say I agree with you on your post.....Figured I better jump in, share what I know, and correct you on a couple of things.

These trucks can handle great, but most don't....... It's all reletive to what you have driven and what a person's expectations are I suppose? I want to have a soft ride on long road trips, control when loaded up RV in tow for a bigger trip, still have the ability to toss the unloaded truck into a signed 20mph corner at 40mph+ and 4 wheel drift it if I so desire! That's where this system shines!

The is nothing weird about the shock lengths.......It's quite the opposite! The seal head can be moved in .75" increments within the body to fine tune the length. Additionally, when I order E-Cliks for clients, I spec out the proper length clevis to maximize travel and get the internal "bump zone" in the right spot so that you don't crash into the bump stops on harder hits.

On the in cab adjustability.......Yes, while you will likely settle in on specific settings for daily driving, the system is active all the time reacting to loads on the chassis. Braking, cornering, throttle position, speed, steering wheel angle, etc are all factored in real time so the system makes changes to the valving based on data received from your OBD2 port and the 9 axis IMU mounted under the hood. I can agree that you probably won't change much once it's dialed in until you add a bigger load in the bed or hook on to a trailer.

Overall the system works great. I went a step further and re-valved the entire E-Clik sytem for the guys who are running heavy with Alucab Campers or like me with motos in the bed and towing an RV.

Yes, the cost is a bit of a drag and there is the complexity from more components, but we feel it's worth it to the drivers who want it all.

The active system definitely looks like more bang for your buck even at a higher price point.
The shocks are fine for your 2.5" lift, but the rears will need to be set short (28.75") unless you have rear brake hoses or another type of correction......even then the bracket needs to be tweaked a little for shocks over 28". The fronts will work as is set to 27.25", but I order them longer because I custom tune the bumps for max travel the builds I do in the shop.

Just be mindful of your spring lengths so they don't drop out.

Something else to keep in mind is tire/reservoir clearance. Does your truck have the wide track axles? If so, a min 4.75" BS wheel is needed or you will need to adjust your steering stops some. If you nave narrow track axles, you will probably need min 3.5-3.75" BS.
