My wife drives her 7 miles to work one way no issues we have 4 21 and 22 total of 100k miles ZERO issues. We put additive in every ither tank and oil at 5k miles fuel and air at 10k miles. I have a 3rd gen in a 1500 Ram with 188k miles I bought with 1200 miles zero issues and follow the same maintenance on it. You'll love the diesel absolute best motor combination in a Jeep period for me and I've owned 30+ new and probaly twice that used I have 7 at the moment! Enjoy and welcome to the Jtd clubHello,
I am considering purchasing a 2023 Jeep Gladiator with the farout package which includes the diesel motor. I have changed my job last year and only drive about 10 miles round trip. So I am not driving a lot of miles each week. I want the diesel becasue I do pull a fishing boat that weight about 5000 lbs. I am not that familiar with the ecodiesel engine and was wondering if this would be a bad choice for an engine since I am not driving very far each week. From research I have done on this forum and other it appears short trips clog up the emission stuff on this engine. If I was to purchase would I need to drive for about 50 miles or so to clean up the emissions once a week.
Also, I have seen where the 1st and 2nd gen of this engine were not very reliable and were failing pretty early in the life of the motor. How reliable are these 3rd gen diesels and is there anything that needs to be done on a regular basis to allow engine to be more reliable.
Thanks for your advise in advance.
Robert
