I wonder if those windshield repair people or kits would help by injecting whatever they inject before it cracks further? Plus even if I do that it still looks bad. Bus me to have to touch up the paint too.

More opinions?
The kits are made so you can force a resin in using suction cups. I’d find an autolite around you and get their opinion. What others are saying is very true. Inside 2 inches around the perimeter the glass has the most tension. In the top and bottom center is the easiest bending/cracking point. I’d be interested in what they say. I’m guessing they wind do it since they don’t want to warrantee it.

Has anyone with Adaptive Cruise Control and forward crash detection replaced a windshield with Gorilla Glass? They only list a single part number (68522631AA) that is for the non-ACC trucks. The parts lists may say that it works on all Gladiators but it does not have the necessary features for ACC. Jeep customer support looked into it for me and confirmed that, although their system says it will work, it won't. They also couldn't tell me when/if it will be available. Just wondering if anyone else has had better luck?

Resurrecting this old thread just to complete the story. I never did anything to repair. Day before yesterday fter a cold-for-SoCal night (which is to say NOT cold at all) it cracked down about a foot. I had a 500 miles round trip to make so I drove it. Doesn’t seem to have cracked any more. Washed it today, no leak.

Safelite quoted $595. Another place quoted $660. My truck has no sensors, etc. I found a place that uses Chinese glass and quoted $380.

Ordinarily I’d use factory glass but everyone says Jeep windshields will break multiple times, so what would be the point? No, my insurance will not cover it. $500 deductible on Comprehensive coverage. Oh well.

Same as mine, so when mine broke in the first few months, I ended up paying rather than even file any claim and end up paying anyway.

Safelight replaced the windshield in my JKU it was blasted and had 2 big rock hits, #57 granite stone, makes nice marks,

Safelight told me they only use factory glass for replacement in Jeeps, NO aftermarket, and GG was an option if I wanted,

I'd prefer factory glass. Reading the threads on Gorila Glass it doesnt seem to be really any better than factory glass.

But if breaking the windshield is likely to happen repetitively - and it may because I do the 500 miles round trip LA to Atascadero & back several time per year to be with our granddaughter - it doesn't SEEM to make much sense to spend more than the minimum on it.

Hey, what about putting 3M clear film on the windshield? Would it likely prevent a rock chip or break? Yeah, I know it might get cloudy or scratch with windshield wipers. I wouldn't consider it if I didn't live in SoCal - it rarely rains here.

Why not just add full glass coverage?

Safelight around here did mine with 3rd party glass and it’s held up better than oem and I added the Jeep in the corner with a sticker

I suppose I should ask my insurance person what the added premium would be for that. BUT, if I make more than a couple claims wouldn't the premiums just go up and up? Probably!

Ask. My glass claims have no effect on the premiums.

FWIW I had a similar smash/crack on the edge of my JKU glass and it didn't expand/crack further for five years.

I had a similar chip at the base, and it formed a crack within a day or two, which proceeded to split up to the top within a week.

Dealer said they’d have to special order the glass, local installer got it overnight (I’ll give you two guesses who I went with).

FWIW GG is not an option for those with adaptive cruise control.
