My plans are to wheel the rig by using ground clearance both under the frame and axles with full use of articulation to overcome obstacles. These rigs are looooooong. The height was an intentional sacrifice. It finally looks like the tire size, wheel well openings, and length are correct together.
Light equals might. Lightweight equals Strength to a fair extent. I've seen plenty of rigs break 1 tons and everything else. I try to build weak points like driveshaft u-joints that are easier to repair on trail and parts are small and lightweight and easily attainable at most parts stores.
I've been wheeling for 25+ years and always built what was needed to attain flexibility to keep the tires planted on the ground. I like to approach the trails like a game of chess or pool where I'll look ahead for my next move or line.
These new axles are improved with better lockers. larger bearings, larger axle shafts, thicker tubing, additional and thicker webbing at the differential but are still far lighter and have higher ground clearance than 1 tons without a HUGE price tag.

Besides, I LOVE looking at the rig. Maybe it's my mid-life crisis but I don't want a sports car. My rig might go slower but it keeps going where the road ends.

Dammit, why'd I come to this thread? I was so sure of 37's but not now.?
Yup buddy same here same here,

the bearing size and overall how beefy these axles are in the rubicons really has me thinking about 40's,up until I see that weakling being the front axle disconnect even trussed i feel like I can't trust it to be honest

Man may I please know what you do for a living,I'm young and wanna end up like yourself, with a big house and of course a huge shop with mines being filled with cool jeeps and classic cars,
but most importantly to make my parents happy with me being successful?
Am a good kid but just not really there financially

I'm not that guy, but I can tell you this. Do things for you, not for anyone else. You come first before anyone.
Don't worry about making your parents happy...that will come just by being genuinely YOU. Do the things you love, and do the things that make you happy. Strive to be better and to learn every single day.

If you do all of that, you'll be a magnet for everything you've ever wanted. :)

I'm on 40" Cooper STT Pro's with a 3.5" Clayton OffRoad Lift.

Do you rub at all? I have the same lift and tires and I rub on the passenger side at full lock. I’m running 17x9 methods -12 offset.
