Hi All,

Should be getting my free mopar sill guards from the dealer any day
These prob wouldn't have been my first choice but free is for me !

Anyway, I'm wanting to get better coverage by adding some clear film in spots that are not covered, as well as side of doors etc.
What do you guys recommend I use?
See all kinds on Amazon - 3m brand etc, as well as xpel sill guard tape.

Will do. I’m not going to run the sill guards.
I kept going back and forth between Quadratec,Mopar & Rugged ridge.
Rugged ridge covered a lot of surface but I like seeing the colour paint. The other ones seemed small. Your idea is good. Combined.
That’s when i figured I’ll just coat the whole sill with the clear film.

What paint protection film are you guys buying online and where?

I went to Xpel's website and their pricing for pre-cut pieces/kits is far more than an installer would charge for their film put on the vehicle.

Thanks. That product is 2.75" - is that wide enough to cover the sills? Will you (I) need to trim it?

XPEL Clear Universal Door Sill Guard (60" x 2.75") Paint Protection Film Kit (R3022)
The sill is approx 3” deep. So a little fiddling will be done. I’ll prolly keep it toward outer edge and run a separate strip along the thin edge where it meets the plastic trim.

Ok placed the xpel tape on. Did the areas I thought would be critical. Optically it’s pretty damn good. Quick pic.

@WhatExit?
Same as previous post:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B003EP52BU/ref=ya_aw_od_pi?ie=UTF8&psc=1&th=1
I put a few drops of dish soap in a spray bottle. Wet the Xpel tape and drag it in to position. It’s quick and easy. Did all 4 sills
in about a half hour. Hardest part is sizing it right. It doesn’t sit in the spot weld area too well so avoided those.
Cheers

little hard to tell in the pic, being a clear tape.
But looks like it came out really good.
Thanks for the post

No problem. It is hard to tell. That was my goal :) I did the “raised” piece. Seam to seam. I didn’t do the 2” area near the exposed bolt. Thanks for the compliment.

How well does this hold up in such a high scuff area?

I like its thinness to not interfere with door seals and clean look, but imagine it wears and peels after stepping/kicking it so often.

Any further info would be appreciated.

@GladLad, Well it’s been awhile. It’s holding up just fine. 6 college moves/2 kids/2 dogs.
No issues. It’s too late here to snap a pic.
I actually forgot it’s there. No peeling or abrasion.
I’ll see if i
Can grab a pic tomorrow.
Cheers
