Summit 4x4 in Prescott, AZ got the skids installed on my JTR today. This pic shows most of the plates in place.

i added the skid that protects the hitch and possibly the rear bumper.

I'm not going to do a lift on this Jeep, so the skids are necessary for trips to Moab and even for Broken Arrow in Sedona.

This is the first time I've relied on a shop, rather than doing the work myself. The combination of turning 75 and having a bad back made the decision easy. Yes, it was pricey to pay the shop for the install, but I'm satisfied with the results.

Summit did a great job on the install and they will be doing the Warn winch as soon as I can rob a bank.

I think to biggest difference with a smooth belly skid is that you can slide over stuff compared to the gaps and spaces in the factory system, you can get hung up on the various openings. Plus the oil pan skid also protects the transmission lines . I’m old and unlifted also and have used my factory skids a lot and am also going to a full belly skid system…..Jack

I agree, it would be nice to slide over things. I've hit that middle cross member multiple times and used it to smooth out hills.

They look great! Need help with the bank? I’m in the very beginning stages of upgrading my JT and could use a lot more funds. šŸ˜‚

The skids were pricey but where I off road we deal with big rocks. My 05 TJ has skids with deep gouges that saved me many times. I’m a believer in armor.

Looks great! I wish they would protect the exhaust. I’ve hit mine a few times.
I would also like to find some protection for the rear drive shaft. It’s hanging down a little and exposed to big rocks that hit only in the center. I didn’t think of that until I noticed a couple of scrapes on mine and have to be aware of that when going over big rocks. I would hate to crash that while out in the back country
