It's a Jeep, not a Bugatti! It looks like normal wear & tear to me, especially considering the location is where the seat handle rubs the material. Unless you weigh less than my beagle, replacing the seat cover won't solve the problem. To do that, you'd need to get rid of the handle.

I’ve looked pretty carefully. The handle does not rub on mine. The crack is simply due to the flexing of the material. They used some sort of Naugahyde that doesn’t want to flex.

I feel your pain, however, the easiest and cheapest way to fix it is the pretend you never saw it.

I had this happen on my '96 Dodge Dakota years ago and to my surprise the dealer replaced it
under warranty (I'm guessing). That said, I agree that some fabric cement and material 'borrowed'
from an unseen area could do the trick as well. I believe it's due to constant weight loading and
unloading as in bending a paperclip over and over, some do it others don't.

I think manufacturers needs to stop calling this leather, they're vinyl or pleather.

I fixed my seat on the Liberty with a nice piece of black duct tape that matched the so called leather perfect. Then a nice seat cover. I use seat covers up front anyway , I surf fish and paint oil paintings out side, so they help if I get sloppy. But the other members are right , times have changed for whats covered on warranty since I retired. My Glad has black seats vynle and leather , so when mine cracks, I still have tha black duct tape. The tape held upfor 8 years longer than the hide of the great nauga.

I was cleaning my truck this weekend and found a tear in my seat. I am not sure what to do other than get it reupholstered which I am sure will not be cheap not to mention finding someone good to do it and matching the leather.

Anyone else go through this?

I have the exact same tear in the exact same spot. Do you know if it’s covered under warranty?

I don’t know, though I doubt it is. If I knew for sure it wouldn’t get worse I wouldn’t worry about it too much.

I just took mine to an upholstery shop yesterday. The guy looked, laughed, said no problem. Four bolts and heated seat plug took maybe 90 seconds. He removed the lumber knob, pulled the cushion off and cut the stitch to the panel, traced a new one (black is easiest to match) sewed it back on and put the seat back in. I don’t think it took an hour. $300 and looks as good as new.

I’ve never even set foot inside an upholstery shop, but this was great.

And this is the reason I went with cloth.

If under warranty, get that shit replaced

I don’t see how this happens ,really ? I looked at mine and it shows now wear and isn’t hard or dry rotted ? When I get out I always lift myself up with the grab handles and the place where these are ripping don’t even really flex at all ? really doesn’t make sense ? Mine is also garaged maybe that’s some of it ?

Could even be faulty vinyl to add to the list.
